About Rosa
Launched in 2008, Rosa partners with a range of funders to resource, champion, and connect women-led organizations through capacity building and research.
Rosa recognizes that building the momentum needed to make a difference can be difficult when you’re not in a position of power or influence. Grassroots activism is about the collective – bringing together women and girls who are passionate about a cause and harnessing their individual strengths, collectively, to push for change. Every advancement for gender equality and women’s rights has been achieved by bold, brave women becoming informed, getting organized, mobilizing others, and taking action to tackle injustice and inequality head-on.
With a vision for a society in which women and girls are safe, healthy, and have equal opportunities at work, at home, and in public life, Rosa prides itself on a holistic, mission-driven approach that is founded on the knowledge that women’s organizations are the experts on the issues facing women and girls today.
In particular, the Rise Fund supports organizations led by, for, and with women of color, especially Black women. Rosa approaches grantees and funders with transparency and clarity, aiming to encourage cross-sector partnerships in which everyone is acknowledged and respected. Rosa takes the time to support donors as they learn the importance of women-centered approaches and the reward of knowing their investment is shaping the lives of women and influencing positive change.
Rosa & Zoom Cares
Rosa grounds its support in women’s organizations working closely in communities, including those that campaign to secure equal representation for women in politics and public life, and are working to end violence against women and girls. Other issues Rosa advocates for include better access to healthcare and economic stability for all women. With the support of the Zoom Cares grant to the Rise Fund, Rosa has been able to support organizations led by Black women and women of color to become stronger and more sustainable.
“Rosa is hugely grateful for Zoom’s investment in the Rise Fund. We understand the challenges faced by frontline organizations and have learned that many organizations led by and for Black and other minority women and girls struggle to find adequate funding. That is why the Rise Fund was created, and what we will use the Zoom grants of up to $52K over the next two years to support. By strengthening these organizations, they will be able to continue providing life-saving and life-changing support to women and girls across the UK.”
