Zamleather Limited, a subsidiary of Zambeef Products PLC (‘’Zambeef’’) has extended its business horizons to Eswatini by positioning its locally produced shoes for possible export to the Kingdom. Zambeef CEO Ms. Faith Mukutu hosted the Eswatini Defence Force Commander, General Moses Mashikilisana Hulumende Fakudze in the company of the Zambia Army Commander, Lieutenant General , Dennis Sitali Alibuzwi as they toured the Zamshu factory in Lusaka today. Zamshu currently produces 1,000 pairs of shoes per day with capacity to produce more to meet market demand. This signifies a new stride in Zambeef’s journey.

The Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Development (MSMED) in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have developed a programme to support the growth of thirty (30) Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) /Cooperatives in the Manufacturing sector. The MSE/Cooperative Empowerment Programme is aimed at achieving the following objectives. Spurring local economic growth through enhanced visibility of selected enterprises/cooperatives. Facilitation of dedicated business development services, mindset change, Proof of Concept (PoC) Contract, and learning visits to Japan. The programme, by targeting MSEs/ Cooperatives in Zambia, is an opportunity to catalyze innovation, drive economic growth and empower local entrepreneurs. Through the provision of support, mentorship, coaching, and PoC contract, the programme aims to enhance a thriving ecosystem for Micro and Small enterprises, leading to sustainable economic development and societal well-being. Programme Description The MSE/Cooperative Empowerment Programme will be implemented as a Business Acceleration Programme for thirty (30) Micro and Small Enterprises/Cooperatives in the Manufacturing sector targeting enterprises/cooperatives in the following subsectors. Food Processing Circular Economy Wood and wood products Metal fabrication and light engineering Textiles Leather and Leather Goods Gemstone cutting, polishing, and setting. The 30 MSE/Cooperatives will come from three (3) Provinces, Lusaka, Copperbelt and Eastern. Each of the three Provinces will contribute ten (10) MSE/Cooperatives. The Programme will comprise training on Kaizen, Improve and Expand Your Business methodologies, business and technical mentorship and a pitching contest from which five (5) well deserving enterprises will have the opportunity to sign USD 20,000 worth of a Proof of Concept (PoC) Contract and participation in a learning visit to Japan.
