Characteristics
A Link to the Past
Whirlpools known as Whirlpool Waterways are scattered throughout Hyrule. Link can use them to Warp to other bodies of Water. Whirlpools also indicate the surfacing of Ku and Zoras from Water.
Ocarina of Time
Vortexes can be found in some rooms in the Water Temple. They can pull in Link and send him back to the beginning of the room.
Majora's Mask
Oracle of Ages
Whirlpools appear in the Sea of Storms. They are impassable barriers that will swallow Link if he attempts to cross them. The only means of passing them is through an underwater entrance in the past.
Four Swords
Whirlpools appear in the Sea of Trees. If Link falls into one, he will drown and lose two Hearts from his Life Gauge before resurfacing on dry land.
The Wind Waker
Whirlpools are found throughout the Great Sea. Whirlpools form around various obstacles, such as the barrier to Jabun's Cave on Outset Island or when Water is displaced from Big Octos surfacing. Whenever they appear, Link must complete the task at hand within a timely manner or he will be swallowed by them. Entering a Whirlpool causes the Weather to become stormy until it disappears.
Four Swords Adventures
Whirlpool suck the Links down into small, underwater Caves.
Phantom Hourglass
Small Whirlpools that can damage the SS Linebeck can be found in the Water. Once Link obtains the Cannon, he can destroy the Whirlpools with the Cannonballs.
Skyward Sword
A Whirlpool appears in the Ancient Cistern after Link activates a Bulb-Shaped Switch. It draws him into the underworld portion of the Dungeon.
Tears of the Kingdom
Whirlpools are swirling vortexes of Water that place Link into underwater Caves after he is pulled into them. These Caves include the Ancient Zora Waterworks and the Lake Hylia Whirlpool Cave. As part of the "Whirly Swirly Things" Side Quest from Kula, Link must show the Korok a Picture of a Whirlpool.
