"Secret of the Snowy Peaks" is a Shrine Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]
Overview
There is a small Ruined House on Mount Granajh where Link can read a Book called the Mountain Peak Log. It describes an unknown person's research into an Ancient Shrine hidden on the mountain.[2] The author found an old text with instructions to cast a cold shadow onto the core of the Pedestal when it glows.[3] They believe that the Pedestal referred to within is the one on Mount Granajh.[4]
In the next entry, the author discusses another piece of text they have found that could help solve the mystery.[5] The text says to cast a "cold shadow" onto the Pedestal while it is glowing.[6] The author recalls that the Pedestal does glow for a short time each day, but they do not know how to make a cold shadow.[7]
The author believes they are close to discovering the solution in the final entry.[8] They think that the "cold shadow" refers to a specific type of shadow,[9] but they are running out of food and must abandon their research.[10] After Link finishes reading the Mountain Peak Log, the Shrine Quest will begin.
The Pedestal referred to in the Mountain Peak Log resides nearby on the side of Daval Peak. To solve the riddle, Link must either use Cryonis on the pond near the edge of Mount Granajh or stand at the edge holding a Snowball at 4:00. When this is done, the shadow of either the Snowball or Ice block will be cast onto the center of the Pedestal and activate it. This will cause Suma Sahma Shrine to rise from the snow,[11] which completes the Shrine Quest.

I noticed a faint glow to the pedestal for a short while each day. But how to "cast a cold shadow onto its core"...? It seems that this calls for further research here.
