Mogryph is a Boss in Echoes of Wisdom.[1]

Characteristics

Mogryph is the Boss of the Gerudo Sanctum. It takes the form of a half-mole, half-gryphon creature. The battle with Mogryph takes two phases. In the first phase, Mogryph swims around beneath the Sand before popping up and swiping waves of Sand at Princess Zelda or her Echoes. It will also swim around beneath the Sand to encircle the battlefield before choosing a target to ram into. Zelda can block this charge attack by moving herself behind one of the Statues placed throughout the room, or by conjuring an Echo of something heavy enough to withstand the attack.

If Mogryph rams into a heavy Object, it will become stunned and land face-down in the Sand. After a short while, it will right itself and return to attacking. Before returning to the Sand, Mogryph will roar, causing Sand to fall from the ceiling and forming Loose-Sand Mounds on the floor. These Loose-Sand Mounds will contain either Hearts or Energy for Zelda to recover.

After Mogryph has taken enough damage, it will change the battlefield and begin its second phase. The battlefield now is filled with Quicksand, which will trap anything in it that doesn't move. Four patches of normal Sand will remain for Zelda to take refuge on. Mogryph will then fly into the air and use its wings to launch Tornadoes of Sand at her. After launching a volley of Tornadoes, it will fly high into the chamber, leaving only its shadow to indicate its position. It will then fly over Zelda and dive bomb her in an attempt to hurt her. After dive bombing, it will once again swim through the Sand and charge at a target. This pattern will repeat until Mogryph is defeated.

Once Mogryph has been defeated, it leaves behind a Heart Container. The Tris it held captive will also be freed, allowing Tri to repair the Rift containing the Stilled Gerudo Sanctum.
