Gongoron
Gongoron is a character in Phantom Hourglass.[2] He is the Goron that helps Link in the Goron Temple.
Biography
Gongoron is the son of Biggoron, the Chief Goron of Goron Island. At first, Gongoron resents Link being a Goron; however, once Link saves him, he appreciates Link. After Biggoron asks him to show Link the way to the Goron Temple, Gongoron goes into the temple and gets caught by monsters. When Link reunites with him, he is able control Gongoron during a part of the temple and during the boss fight.
After Goron Island, Gongoron goes to Dee Ess Island to work part time in the Goron Game in which he can again be played.
Trivia
- Gongoron appeared in the development process wrap-up of Dillon's Rolling Western in the No. 165 (April 2012) issue of Nintendo Online Magazine. The game was originally planned to feature Gorons as the main character, and Jun Tsuda, the director, even made a theme song named "Song of Gongoron" and put it in their presentation to greenlight the project.[3]
Nomenclature
Gongoron's Japanese name, Maigoron, is likely a portmanteau of the short form of the adjectives for being small, such as こまい (Komai) or ちまい (Chimai), which are used in the western region of Japan, and "Goron". The name also shares the vowels with his father's name ダイゴロン (Daigoron).
