Shocked at how costly and difficult it was to see a gynaecologist, get a prescription, then fill it at a pharmacy, the founders recognised a gap to improve access and affordability to female healthcare and founded Zoie in 2020. The Zoie platform allows users to book virtual consults, purchase medication online and join a community for advice and support. In 2022, Zoie was recognised as an MTN "App of The Year" finalist and even took home our very own Startup Club ZA “Healthtech of the Year” award last year. The business has also grown exponentially to now serve more than 9K members and 50 healthcare providers (with a pipeline of over 300) - momentum that helped the team close their pre-seed round in 2023, led by 4DX Ventures and E Squared Investments. Nowadays, guys are asking if there is room for them to grow, asking what does it mean to be in a workforce that is predominantly female? For me it is about balancing diversity and ensuring that the organisation does not become anti male.
