[Media Statement] Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has published a Request for Information (RFI), calling on interested terminal operators to submit proposals for the refurbishment, financing, operation, maintenance, and hand-back of the Single Point Mooring (SPM) and Conventional Buoy Mooring (CBM) Marine Loading Facilities at the Port of Mossel Bay. The marine loading facilities are located offshore at the Port of Mossel Bay and are used to load and discharge petroleum products to meet liquid bulk customer demands and ensure security of supply for mainly the Garden Route and Southern Cape region. [Media Statement] Transnet National Ports Authority has appointed Grindrod South Africa (Pty) Ltd as the preferred bidder to develop and operate a container handling facility at the Port of Richards Bay, as part of plans to drive improved port efficiency and service levels. This development will enable an increase in the port’s container handling capacity from 50 000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) to 200 000 TEUs per annum.

Transnet National Ports Authority has appointed Amulet Group Consortium as the preferred bidder to construct and operate its first 20 MW solar photovoltaics (PV) plant at the Port of Richards Bay. The construction of the plant is part of TNPA’s commitment to decarbonise its port operations under its Renewable Energy Purchase programme. Within this programme, TNPA plans to install an estimated 100 MW of renewable energy that will be implemented cumulatively across its South Africa’s eight commercial seaports.
