Over the next few days, we'll be observing the FAO of the United Nations fifth International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW), which takes place on Sunday. IDAFLW calls on public and private entities across the food system, as well as consumers, to unite in reducing food loss and waste. This effort is crucial for mitigating climate change and enhancing food security and nutrition. Co-convened by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the UN Environment Programme, IDAFLW seeks to promote global efforts and collective action towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal Target 12.3, which aims to halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer level by 2030 and reduce food losses along the food production and supply chains. At SA Harvest, we are proud to be part of the food waste solution and to help companies achieve their SDG targets by rescuing perfectly good food. We remain committed to helping to educate the public about the ways in which every individual can make a difference. In the buildup to #FLWDay, we'll be sharing hints and tips to help you reduce food waste in your home.
