In a world where #hepatitis testing and treatment have been made more accessible, what’s stopping people from getting tested? Societal attitudes and taboos not only discourage individuals from seeking testing, but also perpetuates a harmful culture of silence and blame surrounding the disease. Many people are reluctant to get screened for the fear of being labeled as someone “who deserves it”. The reality is anybody can get hepatitis, but nobody deserves it. In a social experiment we conducted, four people bravely shared their diagnosis. However, millions continue to live in silence. We believe everyone deserves to get tested. #DYK as of 2022, 354 million people globally were living with chronic Hepatitis B or C virus infection. Of those living with viral hepatitis over 80% had not been treated.
