  • Being intentional about the ingredients you use and how they will impact your body will allow you to make more informed choices when it comes to healing your body through food. Some examples: 👉 Cinnamon can help reduce blood sugar levels and contains anti-inflammatory properties. 👉 Curcumin, garlic, ginger, and oily fish lower inflammation. 👉 Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, brussels sprouts, beets, and artichokes are often referred to as ‘cancer-fighting foods'. 👉 Walnuts, oily fish, legumes, lentils, chickpeas, and beans support heart health. • When it comes to food labels, the ingredients are listed in order of the largest amount by weight to the least amount by weight. So, the first ingredient listed makes up the majority of the product. Ricoffy, a chicory-based hot drink, is not coffee at all; it's made from an entirely different plant. Despite this, the first ingredient in the list is actually glucose syrup. Glucose syrup is a commercial sweetener made from starchy foods like corn and has minimal nutritional value, making Ricoffy mostly empty starch. This example illustrates why food labels are important to note. I’ll teach you the RITE way to read food labels. Contact me at 27 82 562 0549 for more information.

  • What is “empty plate syndrome” or the “clean plate club”? This is the colloquial term for those people who have trouble not finishing everything on their plate. Many are raised with the mentality of not wasting food. They are reminded that they are in a position of privilege by having a meal every night, and it may be rude to not finish the full meal. This kind of eating can cause unnecessary weight gain or just general discomfort. So, how do you stop doing this? Be mindful when eating. Being truly present and carving out time to eat intentionally is a good way to avoid eating everything on your plate out of habit. It’s also good to be mindful of your hunger cues and eat slowly. Feeling full takes longer than it takes to truly get full, so eating slowly will help your mind to catch up. On average, the stomach is the size of your balled fist, so start with smaller amounts of food. Eat slowly and intentionally, and you’ll find it easier to stop eating when you’re full. • Training is different in all seasons, and winter is no exception, as training in the cold can increase the potential for injuries. Here are some tips to keep you active in winter: 💪 Increase your warm-up time to ensure your body is properly warmed up. 💪 Stay hydrated; you’re still sweating, so you need to replace the water lost. 💪 Breathe through your nose to warm the air going into your lungs. 💪 Dress warmly to help protect your muscles and lungs, as they need to work harder when cold. 💪 Set goals to keep you on track and productive. For a personalised winter training plan, contact me: 27 82 562 0549
