We’re building next-generation financial services technologies to empower emerging market entrepreneurs.
About us
JUMO is a financial technology company that partners with banks, MNOs and other e-commerce players to deliver progressive financial choices to customers in emerging markets across Africa and Asia. At JUMO we connect people to opportunities. Two billion people worldwide have limited access to formal financial services such as borrowing and saving. We’ve built a large-scale, multi-sided technology platform and designed progressive financial choices to reach them. We use their digital footprint to create a financial identity using only behavioural data. Our customers are in emerging markets across Africa and Asia. Most of them are micro and small to medium enterprises who need instant access to finance so they can grow and invest. So far we’ve served more than 10 million customers and disbursed over 40 million loans – and the numbers are rising daily.

Paul Whelpton is our Chief Product and Prediction Officer who leads the team responsible for creating our intellectual property and transforming it into world class mobile financial products for millions of people. 🔢 He has always had a passion for data and figuring out how to use it to solve big world problems while generating profits for business partners. ‘At JUMO, the tech we’ve built manages almost 10 times more lending transactions in Africa than the continent’s biggest banks. Using the power of AI to reach millions of people in real time is incredibly exciting work,’ says Paul. ‘I love the speed and accuracy of everything we do at JUMO. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind place to work.’ 💡Paul’s biggest strength is his ability to find innovative ways to solve problems. In his 7 years at JUMO he’s learned that no challenge is too big or daunting to overcome. He also lives by his favourite quote, which is feel everything, say something and do one thing. ‘Thoughts are extremely important but without sharing them and following through with even the smallest action, we are trapped in our own minds,’ he says. ⛳ In his free time, Paul loves playing golf, beach days and fine wine. ✈️ If he could choose to be invisible or able to fly, he’d choose to fly to avoid standing in airport queues! 🎸 Little known fact. Paul has a creative side, plays the guitar and has a black belt in Karate! #FridayFeature

♻ There’s no denying the need for being conscious about social impact and #sustainability in business today. We find references to this in mission statements and sales messaging, but is this driving genuine progress, or is it just a marketing ploy? For powerful positive change we need to go beyond the jargon. JUMO’s Customer Intelligence Lead Faiza Devji explains. https://lnkd.in/d8EKUbCS
