Rather opt for thoughtful, personal gifts. According to 'Giftology' (link in comments), memorable gifts aren't about the logo but the connection they foster: 1. Find out what your referral connection likes as a PERSON. 🎁 Golf? Music? Coffee? Craft Beer? Go with something they'll use and will remember you when they do. Kitchen stuff is always awesome when you run out of ideas. 2. Find out what your referral connection's PARTNER might like. 🎁 Everybody loves making their significant other happy. If you can help them along with that, you're a legend in their eyes. 3. Surprise your contacts when they least expect it from a professional contact. 🎁 End-of-year gifts are "meh.", but a gift on my birthday or when I return to work for the first week of the year is "yay!" I plan to take you through our process and answer your questions. I’ll include [GOAL] as that’s what you’d like to get out of this meeting. Are you ok with this?” Now, you’ve set your first upfront contract with your prospect as they’ve agreed to the agenda! This gives your meeting a clear agenda and implies they control what you will discuss. Humans love having control 🤝 -- 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 2️⃣ - 𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐮𝐩𝐬. If your meetings usually end with non-specific language like: Let’s chat ‘later this week’? OR I’ll take a look and ‘get back to you’. Then, the second upfront contract will be the most important for you. “James, it’s been amazing chatting with you. I’m going to send you our proposal by Wednesday at 3pm. *𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬?*” James might say, “I should be able to review it by Friday.” You then follow up with: “Great, let’s chat on *𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘵 2𝘱𝘮* to discuss any thoughts or questions you have.
