Bombela Operating Company (PTY) LTD. (BOC) is collaborating with the CCMA to resolve the current strike by its NUMSA-affiliated employees, which began on 8 July. BOC, operating the Gautrain with over 500 employees, including 30% youth and 52% female representation, continues to ensure seamless operations through robust contingency plans. As the operator of the Gautrain, we understand the importance of environmental stewardship as we showcase our ongoing efforts to create a greener and more sustainable future. Our electric trains are a significant part of the sustainable transportation network as they produce zero emissions at the point of use, and play a crucial role in reducing the transportation sector’s carbon footprint. This is particularly beneficial for improving air quality in our stations and in urban areas. Earlier today, we commemorated #WorldEnvironmentDay by hosting an impactful event at the Sandton Gautrain Station, showcasing our commitment to sustainability under the theme, "Our Land, Our Future". We partnered with various stakeholders to raise awareness and take action for the protection and preservation of our environment. The event featured the cleaning of the station and its surrounds, fumigation, surface decontamination, general health and fire safety inspections, and hands-on activities designed to engage the community and highlight the importance of protecting our planet.
