Lock Mess Mobster

The  Mess: a fetid marshland of flooded canals and neglected industrial sites. 

Long ago, it served as another node in the city’s far reaching trade network. Now it lies neglected, home to decrepit technologies, tainted flora and fauna, and mercenary lock keepers little better than gang bosses. 

Lock Boss Anguilla is a semi-human hybrid adapted to aquatic life. He has ruthlessly built a loyal following among the scavenger “sludge-larks” who ply the Mess. While his early history remains a mystery, Anguilla rose to his current position when he commandeered the dredger Fortune’s Folly.

Now Anguilla seeks to maintain his power within the violent world of Mess lockbosses. So far his reputation for extravagant violence via dredging drill has impressed caution upon his rivals. 

But not all the Mess’s threats can be deterred so easily. 

Lock Mess Mobster features a semi-aquatic gangster and his sludge-dredging home. It is written for Into the Odd, but can be placed in any metropolitan fantasy setting.
