A star in the downtown area for an impeccable dining experience. The atmosphere is cozy and calm. The food is comforting like it's homemade, yet upscale at the same time and nothing like I could make at home.
The food came out much quicker than I expected for a restaurant with such exquisite dishes (a big plus). Everything was absolutely delicious. Each ingredient clearly has a place and they've put thought into every dish. Favorites were the Bolognese Rotolo with a creamy ricotta and the Spinach Cavatelli. You also must get their famous "Mama's Chocolate Chip Cookie", or a whole tub of the dough, because it's just that good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 20, 2024
Crown Republic has become our go-to spot for a laid-back and delicious brunch. The casual atmosphere makes it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a leisurely meal, whether you're just two people or bringing along a large group of friends.
The bottomless mimosas at brunch option is a fantastic perk that keeps us coming back for more. The food consistently hits the mark--everything is well-prepared and flavorful, making it a solid choice for anyone who loves a good brunch.
The service is decent; while it may not be exceptional, it's reliable enough to ensure a pleasant experience. Parking is never a hassle, with street parking and lots conveniently located around the area. This adds to the overall ease of visiting, making Crown Republic a dependable choice for both regular visits and larger gatherings. If you're looking for a spot that combines great food with a relaxed vibe, Crown Republic is definitely worth checking out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 10, 2024
Wow what an amazing place with so many wonderful options. In town for the Luke Combs concert we came here for dinner and brunch 2 days in a row. My daughters and niece loved it.
Here's what we got.
Avocado toast with crab
Crab Cake
General Tao Cauliflower
Everything Knots
Onion Dumpling Soup (soup broth was to die for)
Truffle Fries
Queso Fundito Burrito
Truffle & Eggs
Biscuits and gravy
French toast
Golden Banana Bread
There wasn't a single thing here that wasn't 5 stars or better. I highly recommend trying a little bit of this and that with a group and everyone sharing. The options are to good to just not share everything.
I already have a trip planned to bring my wife for a weekend especially to come back here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 14, 2024
Ordered: burger and spaghetti and meatball
We were able to walk in and get a table on a Friday night without reservations. The large windows and high ceilings made the restaurant feel very open. The service was great the whole night. The portions were huge! The burger was a double patty on a brioche bun with plenty of fries! The pasta did not taste freshly made, but the meatball melted in your mouth!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 19, 2024Updated review10 check-ins
My go-to brunch spot. Love the food, music, and Ciara's service. One of my fave bartenders. Actually any of the owners restaurants are really good!

The food was incredible! I highly recommend trying the onion soup dumplings, spaghetti with prime meatballs, and the Mama's Cookie for dessert. Our waitress was fantastic--very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us excellent recommendations. Even though the restaurant was busy, the atmosphere remained comfortable and not overly loud.

Crown Republic is a trendy place to eat in downtown Cincinnati. This was our first visit and we are with a party of 5 and had a reservation. They must get a lot of phantom reservations because they charge $20 if you don't show.
We were seated immediately and the interior is very open and inviting. It has very high ceilings and is surrounded by windows.
We ordered drinks and appetizers, the burrata and the duck fat hummus. The hummus was very good. The burrata ingredients were good but there was too much tomato jam which overwhelmed the cheese. We didn't get served with enough bread or vegetables so we ordered more and it took so long to come out that they arrived with our mains, which was disappointing.
Our waitress pointed out that the kitchen was run by a chef and everything is made in house made. This immediately set the bar high as not all restaurants can say this.
I ordered the seared salmon and requested medium rare with crispy skin. Note that this is a super easy request that any chef can do. Regular cooks, maybe not. Chef, slam dunk. I don't know who cooked my salmon but it wasn't seared at all. It seemed oven baked. Second the skin was soft. Third it was cooked medium well. Three errors on a very easy dish. I told the waitress and she asked if I wanted it replaced. I declined as it was edible and everyone was already eating and I don't know how a second chance would fix this with so many errors the first time.
My wife's $30 crab cake was a singular cake. She liked it overall and said the accoutrements on the plate were very good.
My friend said his gnocchi was good but the spiciness dominated which was a bit of a let down because the underlying gnocchi was good.
We gave the manager this feedback when she dropped by the table. They did remove the appetizer cost from the bill, which was a nice gesture. Normally a chef would come out when feedback is given, but not tonight. The manager apologized for our lack of enjoyment of the food verbally.
We ordered a cookie ice cream sandwich and espresso for dessert. The dessert looked great but the cookie dough was refrigerated or thawed from frozen so had that grainy dry texture versus buttery creamy that you would expect with dough. The espresso was good but no sugar was offered. I've been to Waffle House dozens of times and they never forget to offer cream and sugar.
In the end everyone in the party agreed that we wouldn't go back and further, which is why it's a 2, we would direct people not to go there is this was an option.
My wife and I routinely eat at Arnold's Bar, which is about 100 ft from Crown Republic and the food there is much much better, and in fact there are many places downtown with much better food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 8, 2024
Let me start off by saying the food here is incredible. I got the baked eggs and a side of bacon. This bacon was INSANELY thick. I've never had anything like it. It was really tasty, and didn't seem super fatty. The baked eggs were delicious and full of flavor.
This place was really loud, with lots of groups, so if you're looking for a place you can chat with one other person, it may not be the best vibe! Definitely seems fun for a big group.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 43061Jun 20, 2024
A friend and I decided to visit for Drinks and Food. Upon entering, there is a Hostess who was very nice.
The restaurant was not crowded at all...about 50% capacity and they had everyone pretty much sat towards the front of the restaurant together (the restaurant is more rectangular shape - narrow and long/deep).
We chose to sit at the Bar as opposed to the tables because the seats were cushioned at the bar only as far as we could tell. We had to wait for a few minutes to be served, which was okay.
The Bartender offered recommendations when asked and served us decently.
My friend started with the House Strawberry Mule and I ordered the Queen's Crown. Both were delicious and refreshing.
We chose not to order appetizers. My friend ordered the Vodka Bolognese and I ordered the Mushroom Capellini.
The meals came out to us in minutes.
Both Entrees were flavorful, hot, and fresh. Not remarkable, but good.
I will come to the restaurant again soon, but perhaps take a seat at one of the tables instead of the bar.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
