Bistro Nota is a must try if you love creative food and a unique dinning experience. The old store feel is still inviting and quaint. The staff is outstandingly friendly and service oriented. It's kinda fun to watch the team prepare the food while you enjoy the excellent wines and appetizers.
On this occasion they hosted a large group celebrating a birthday. The team did an excellent job at welcoming the group and making us feel comfortable. We are at pace that allowed us to enjoy the fellowship, food and atmosphere.
Here are my takes on several items:
-French Onion Soup: the BEST I have ever had! The three large croutons were a bit crispy but nicely baked and seasoned. There was enough blocks to break and enjoy during the whole bowl. The mozzarella cheese was smooth and thick and flavorful. It nicely was melted across the bowl. The broth was rich and had a strong beef taste. Moderate amount of onions that were perfectly cooked to a limp texture.
-Beef Stroganoff: absolutely the BEST I have ever had. The beef was tender and in small pieces. It was easy to if needed and a had a rich, deep beef flavor. The noddles were perfectly cooked to be tender but a bit of firmness. The beef sauce was outstanding as it was creamy and melted in you mouth! Simply irresistible!!
-Macaroni and Cheese: this was a nice dish. The noodles were firm enough to jab with a fork but struggle a bit. The sauce was creamy but very light. You got a mild non cheddar cheese flavor here.Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0May 28, 2022Previous reviewBistro Nita is another outstanding and unique dinning experience in downtown Fort Wayne. I love small
Plate dinning and eating in unique buildings. Bistro hit both those criteria!
Bistro Nota is located across from the county government building near the Landing. It is tucked away in a old brick building. The interior is very small. I'm guessing they can hold about 40 dinners. So reservations is a very good idea! The decor reflects the brick and industrial period construction. They have done an excellent job blending the old style construction with modern materials and an upscale linen/decor. You will really feel comfortable and easy for a great dinning experience.
The host and waitress were very friendly. They were excellent about making you feel at home...especially as a visit to dinner. The waitress knew her menu very well and had lots of insight on the food choices. Once you've ordered you can watch the kitchen staff go to work as they are easily visible to the dinners. Or you could watch the street traffic or have wonderful conversation with your party.
For a starter we choose the Pain et Fromage. The Focaccia bread was the best I have ever had. It was grilled to a slight crisp and seasoned with a slight amount of butter & garlic. The cheese dip was a smooth pimento task g spread. It was slightly warm and easily spread of the bread. Outstanding small
plate!
My wife had the Shrimp Creole pasta. The pasta and shrimp were cooked to perfection! The seasoning had a bit of spice without being over powering. The dish was simply delicious!!
I had the Beef Teres Major. The meat was cooked to a delicious medium rarE level. It was moist, slightly seasoned and accented with a small amount of Steak fat. The relish that topped the steak was very fresh and slightly accented the taste of the meat. The creamy sauce was very light. Appears that it is going to be very cheesy but it wasn't. Just another perfect accent to the meat taste.
Overall our dinning experience was outstanding!! Make a reservation and give Bistro Nota a try soon!! - May 17, 2024
One of the best restaurants in Fort Wayne. We came here for dinner while visiting from Indy one weekend.
Very cozy, wonderful service, and amazing food. We ordered the Bistro mac n Cheese, the Bistro Salad, and the Beef Teres Major. Way too much food for us, but we couldn't help ourselves. The salad was simple and we maybe could have skipped this dish if we needed to pass up on any specific dish. Our favorite was the beef, it was cooked perfectly, melt in your mouth. The mac n cheese was amazing, but very filling. We can't wait to come back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 10, 2023
Loved the new Landing area in Ft. Wayne! We enjoyed a delicious light dinner at Bistro Nota on a recent rainy Saturday night.
The menu looked fabulous overall but as we weren't super hungry from all the apps we had enjoyed earlier in the night we settled on splitting a few small plates.
The Lowcountry shrimp was heavenly. Tender shrimp, bacon, roasted poblanos and sinfully rich polenta. So good. We paired that with the Pan et Fromage. Fresh bread served with a roasted pepper cheese dip. Yum.
We finished the night with a slice of the Sugar Cream Tart. It had a slight lemon flavor and was quite rich but not sweet. Lovely.
I'd like to come back and try a full dinner here - the food headed to other tables looked amazing. Service was friendly and efficient. Great night,Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Robert C.Orange, CT18181Nov 2, 2024
Perhaps the best sandwich I have ever enjoyed. Bread was toasted to perfection and the flavors of the short rib, cheese and Dijon mustard made perfect harmony.
Beet salad was beautifully presented and again the flavor and texture combinations were so satisfying.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 28, 2023
This place caught my eye when searching for places to eat while in Ft Wayne for business. I'd almost consider this a hole-in-the-wall place. It doesn't look like anything special from the outside or inside. The food is excellent and the service was friendly. I had the braised short and they were amazing. Paired it with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, also really good. I highly recommend trying this place!

A tremendous experience all the way around. Incredible food and service!!!
The Beef Teres Major was perfectly rare, the chimichurri fresh, with planty of garlic, and the veggies on the side were crisp outside and tender inside. Totally recommend!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 12, 2023
Food was OK. Not very many options. All the bread was extremely salty, had to cut the tops off. Meet was pretty good. Quiet area downtown which is nice. Service was good too.

We ate at Bistro Nota for the first time tonight.
The Beet Salad was $14. It was red beets, orange supremes and some ground nut topping. It was ok. $14 for a few beets is a little pricey, but considering restaurants charge $12 for some fried Brussels Sprouts, what can one expect?
The Pork Osso Bucco came out and tasted like...wait for it...scallops (which they have on special). It literally tasted like scallops, so we sent it back.
I ordered Beef Stroganoff, and it consisted of Demi, and old, tough, bland, leftover slices of short rib, no cream to speak of, and tossed like a pasta. it was served with the ends of a VERY salty "focaccia".
No comps, just apologies from the server.
$125 with tip and a glass of Bordeaux each.
The server was great, which is the only saving grace.
Never again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Linda O.Fort Wayne, INDec 23, 2023
It is a a classy little place tucked away near The Landing. The atmosphere was nice. Service was very good. I had the Saute of Pesto Vegetables with Roasted Tomato Risotto. It had a lovely assortment of veggies and the risotto was a nice touch...very uniquely paired vegan and GF dish. Unfortunately I could only eat a couple of bites of each item. It was the saltiest dish I have ever had in my life and the first time I have not been able to eat something because of it being so salty it was inedible. Just from the little bit I had my lips were tingly and mouth felt puffy. Weird, right? It could have been divine though.
