This page provides information about the relation between data in VIAF and data in Wikidata.
Overview
[edit]- Domain: While Wikidata is not domain-specific, VIAF stores only information from specific domains.
- Wikidata:VIAF/partner - Wikidata is one of several partners providing information to VIAF and has the status "non-contributor", the partner ID is WKP and the partner page URL is: https://viaf.org/viaf/partnerpages/WKP.html, the name of Wikidata in VIAF is Wikipedia.
- Wikidata:VIAF/type - the type of an entity in Wikidata can be a subclass of a type in VIAF, e.g. Wikidata has type:human while in VIAF the same entity has type:person. The most common type in Wikidata for items having a VIAF ID is "human"
- Wikidata:VIAF/cluster / Wikidata item:
- VIAF can contain entities that do not exist in Wikidata but each could be added to it.
- Wikidata can contain entities that do not exist in VIAF but could be added to it.
- Wikidata can contain entities that do not exist in VIAF and could not be added to it.(example?)
- Identifiers:
- VIAF can contain source IDs that do not exist in Wikidata but can be added to it.
- Wikidata can contain external IDs:
- for which the system is not part of VIAF (twitter, facebook, ...)
- for which the system was part of VIAF (example?)
- for which the system is part of VIAF, but the specific ID is not in VIAF
