Motivation
[edit]The World Rowing (Q684885) has launched a new website last week, which unfortunately changes the access to their rowing results database. Persons (athletes) were previously accessible with one- to five-digit numeric identifiers, but now they are using pseudo-random UUIDs and there is also another formatter URL. As I managed to compile a mapping table for all 41722 values of the new database, I could directly import new identifiers to items which have a World Rowing ID (P2091) value and are contained in the new database as well. For some reason however, around 9500 entries are missing from the new database that were part of the old one with 50k entries.
We had a similar situation for ITF player ID before 2020 (archived) (P599) and ITF player ID 2020 (P8618) in the past. Once this property is approved, the old one at World Rowing ID (P2091) will get a suitable deprecation warning in the labels. We can keep the values, though, which are still being used on around 18.500 Wikimedia pages in the projects. —MisterSynergy (talk) 13:53, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

- Support important to get this done as soon as possible as this will be the basis for fixing tens of thousands of broken references on the English Wikipedia. --Schwede66 (talk) 16:43, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
