Motivation
[edit]Getty Images (Q1520122) is one of the world's largest commercial photo libraries; having acquired any other such libraries over the years. They have images of people and events which are often not depicted in free images.
Note: if I use getty.com gettyimages.com, I'm redirected to getty.co.uk gettyimages.co.uk - can people in other countries check what they get? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:17, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Support, getty.com doesn't exist. For me https://www.gettyimages.com/photos/alan-bennet redirect to https://www.gettyimages.fr/photos/alan-bennet , so gettyimages.com should be use as url formater. — eru [Talk] [french wiki] 19:41, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose It's not an ID, it's using their search engine. Make this experience: Type "this is super random" in their search engine, and you will be redirected to "gettyimages.com/photos/this-is-super-random". So how do we decide for the string then? It should not be in the authority control category and should not be considered as a unique identifier. --Deansfa (talk) 16:48, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per Deansfa. --Giovanni Alfredo Garciliano Díaz ★ diskutujo 17:19, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose, it is indeed not an identifier. Thanks Deansfa for noticing that. − Pintoch (talk) 15:55, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose it's an interesting resource, but certainly this one is not an authoritative identifier but a random search chain, unless someone provides evidence on the contrary. strakhov (talk) 01:12, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
Not done per above. I've had a quick look, and this site does have identifiers for "events" and "child events" (e.g. 2019 Formula One World Championship (Q41173535) -> 775314359, and 2019 Australian Grand Prix (Q60853029) -> 775279042), but if anyone wants to pursue these, they should be proposed as a new property. --99of9 (talk) 02:12, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
