Motivation

The Church of England's National Church Institutions’ Archives and Manuscripts Catalogue contains detailed records of half a million archive items, including ~34,000 manuscript items in the Lambeth Palace Library (Q30264838). The depth of detail available in this database is exemplified by MS 278, William Smith's Baronagium Angliae of 1597.

Note that despite the examples, which are all part of the manuscript collection, IDs like "Bell/118-183/150-157/153/1-4, 6, 8, 10, 13-19, 21, 41, 44, 125, 140, 145, 179-80, 191, 194, 208, 212-14" are also possible.

The database also has identifiers for Names of people, organizations, and families, and for Places. I will be proposing companion properties for these additional identifiers:
