Motivation
[edit]The Church of England's National Church Institutions’ Archives and Manuscripts Catalogue contains detailed records of half a million archive items, including ~34,000 manuscript items in the Lambeth Palace Library (Q30264838). The depth of detail available in this database is exemplified by MS 278, William Smith's Baronagium Angliae of 1597.
Note that despite the examples, which are all part of the manuscript collection, IDs like "Bell/118-183/150-157/153/1-4, 6, 8, 10, 13-19, 21, 41, 44, 125, 140, 145, 179-80, 191, 194, 208, 212-14" are also possible.
The database also has identifiers for Names of people, organizations, and families, and for Places. I will be proposing companion properties for these additional identifiers:

Discussion
[edit]- (Note: property was originally proposed as "Archives and Manuscripts Catalogue ID")
- Support as proposer - PKM (talk) 20:01, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- Support A valuable range of sources, with seemingly very well managed and detailed cataloguing, and good discoverability by person and by place. The property would be a valuable help, making linking to them easier and more sure. My only quibble would be the property name, which IMO needs to be both snappier and more specific. Perhaps "CofE archives ID" ? (cf parallel suggestions on the name and place properties also proposed). But, as also written on those proposals, the exact label is something that can be evolved. For the present let's just get this created, so that people can start using it for citations. Jheald (talk) 22:39, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- Comment I am open to renaming the property "CofE archives ID" (or something else that everyone likes). - PKM (talk) 22:47, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- Support, an important property for the UK.--Arbnos (talk) 21:30, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
