At the MOBILISE Wikidata Workshop on 2020-02-13 we had significant discussion about use of "collector" (this item) as the occupation of collectors of biological specimens. However, the current subclass statement for the collector item, "subclass of artist" does not make sense. That statement does have the qualifier "often" but that seems questionable given that many people collect a variety of things that are not related to art.
Unless there are objections, I propose to delete this statement as inappropriate. Baskaufs (talk) 10:03, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
No additional discussion took place on this issue, so I have taken the proposed action of removing the subclass statement. Since the original proposal, an additional subclass statement was made. It is also inappropriate, since a subclass statement entails that all instances of the subject class are also instances of the object class. It is incorrect to say that all instances of "collectors" are hobbyists. Many collectors are professionals, therefore the assertion is not appropriate. Baskaufs (talk) 19:40, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
