Commonly used by the media term is ja:炎上 (ネット用語), which is what you can see if you look at the length and the contribution list of these two articles. There will be an NHK Special (an hour long documentary on Japanese national TV, commonly with viewership in tens of millions) on net flaming next week on Japanese television, and NHK use the term 炎上 (enjo) exclusively in the preview, that aired today.
