image vs artwork
[edit]The label was 'image with frame' - I've renamed this to 'artwork with frame' as I suspect you don't want this to be used to show any random image with a digitally-added frame surrounding it. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 14:14, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not sure .. somehow I preferred the proposed label. It should be 2d works with some context (generally the frame it currently uses). I think the description and constraints define it sufficiently. --- Jura 15:22, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- For illustrative purposes, are these images in scope for this property? They are all images, but not artwork. They are the kind of image I think will be added via this property unless it is clarified. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 15:32, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
generally unsuitable images on Wikidata |
---|
- I think it's up to Commons to determine if and how they want to use the property there. Currently, it cannot be used on images there (due to the datatype). --- Jura 15:48, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- Maybe adding "its" in the label clarifies the use. --- Jura 07:11, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
Should there be a constraint violation if this property is used without image (P18) being present?
[edit]E.g., at Painting with White Form (Q71127828) - the image won't be found by anyone looking for image (P18). Should P18 duplicate this property value, or P18 be used in place of this property? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 15:36, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- I think there should be a suggestion to add a P18, but the value should be different (an image without the frame). --- Jura 15:50, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- If there is only an image with a frame, I'd add it in P18 as well. Eventually someone might upload one without a frame or do a crop (if that is possible), but in the meantime, users looking for P18 would get a value. --- Jura 09:08, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
Adding drawing as type constraint
[edit]Hey everyone, i've added drawing (Q93184) as a type constraint, aside from painting (Q3305213). This property is limited to 2D artworks, but drawings are obviously 2D artworks too. Maybe we should either add more constraints, or do some smart class hierarchy things. But i've fixed it like this for now because i couldn't add this property to Portrait of Harmen Gerritsz. van Rijn (1565-1630) (Q83383193). Husky (talk) 21:23, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
