P6333 use "www.columbia.edu"

[edit]

@Mvolz (WMF), ArthurPSmith, Germartin1, PKM, Galaktos:@JakobVoss, Izno, Lucas Werkmeister:

Somehow I don't think this should be used for "www.columbia.edu" as on https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q325325&diff=861459503&oldid=861459311 . URL (P2699) seems mis-used as well. --- Jura 11:15, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I've changed the "title of broader work". As for the duplication of the "reference URL" as "URL", I find that redundant and I usually remove it when using the Autofill tool. I guess I just missed this one. Is there any reason to keep it that I am missing? - PKM (talk) 18:15, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

P6333 use "Thurston Dart Archive"

[edit]

@RexxS:

Shouldn't this simply be using title (P1476)? https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q963003&diff=865323314&oldid=865323252 --- Jura 11:22, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Jura1: I'm not certain now that you've raised the question. The documentation for title (P1476) says:
  • "published title of a work, such as a newspaper article, a literary work, a website, or a performance work"
and the documentation for title of broader work (P6333) says:
  • "title of website, journal or other work in which an article (or other publication) is published in."
So that seems to imply to me that title (P1476) is intended for published works, whereas title of broader work (P6333) is intended for the container of a published work. The Thurston Dart Archive is a physical archive, a collection of material related to Dart's life and work, and the archive itself is the container for the sources alluded to in the reference. Nevertheless, I can see that using the website of the archive as a reference completely blurs that distinction. Please use your best judgement; I certainly won't object if you feel title (P1476) is more appropriate in this instance. Cheers --RexxS (talk) 13:47, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
