I am not from this planet. Hell, I am technically not from this galaxy. However, that doesn't change the fact I am here now, and my job is to save what I can on this forsaken planet and what's left of its inhabitants.

The problem is that not everyone wants to be saved. I know what you're thinking. You can't save those who don't want to be saved. I bloody well agree. The ones who sent me don't care what you or I think, though. All they care about is numbers.

They need a certain success rate to continue to get funding for their "expeditions" and "peacekeeping" efforts. I use both terms loosely here. However, that's what they put on their records, and it's what sounds good and looks suitable to their investors. So this is the way it's going to be. So be it!

Oh, did I forget to mention the Universe decided I was the lucky girl to help find the one person who could save us all from self-destruction? Yea, that is a shitty idea, but once again, no one cares what I think.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! Five Star Reviews for Atlantis Academy: "Omg this book was amazing I couldn't put it down or stop reading. I carried it with me open on my phone while I did everything just to keep reading. I need more of all of this. Epic story, epic content, epic visuals, just epic. LOVE THIS!" "Once I got into this story, I did not stop reading it. This is a beautiful story about a very awkward girl who is riven with so much pain and angst and yet... this makes her who she is and shapes her into the person she will become. The world she finds herself awakened to is magical and yet filled with the all-too-familiar cliques and tribes of the very human people who inhabit it. One word to describe the story: beautiful!" "The story pulls you headlong to the end and leaves you wanting to shout "No! Not yet!" ...If there were 6 stars, I would have given it that." *** Humanity is one secret society away from extinction. The children of Atlantis use magic to keep us safe. If they make it through the Academy. Hi, I'm Lyric. And I'm kind of a mess. ADHD, that's me. I'm a high school drop-out, late everywhere I go, and one screw-up away from being homeless. I'm a loner, and I like it that way. Who needs friends when you have a Redwood forest nearby? Trees never bully me like the kids did at school. Or get drunk and throw things at my head. After my mom died, I figured life couldn't get much worse. I thought it might even get better. Ha. The universe has a great sense of humor. I should've listened to the rumors about evil spirits. About the angry, ancient magical creatures haunting our small Oregon Coast town. But did I? No. That was my first mistake. And it might be my last. 'Cause now I'm in a battle for my life. A whole new world has opened up... a magical world I don't understand. And the blood in my veins says I belong here. But I have to prove myself to save myself. And when have I ever done that?

"In a world where Grimm, Danger Beasts, Monsters, and notorious villains run rampant, there are those who stand against them. Benders, Huntsmen, Heroes, people who have the power to fight them, for the sole purpose of defending the innocent. At least some of them. Other guys just want to prove how powerful they are, and push around people without powers. I learned that the hard way. My name is Y/n Tennyson. I'm 20 years old, and I am in possession of the most powerful alien weapons, in the universe. When I was little, people like Bakugo and Issei picked on me everyday, just because I was too powerless to do anything. So one day, I decided to drop out of Union Academy and went on a cross country road trip with my grandpa and cousin. Then on our first stop, I went out on a walk where a meteor fell out of the sky and crashed right in front of me. But, as it turns out, it wasn't a meteor, but a pod containing a watch that, once stuck upon your wrist, could turn you into any alien you want. Needless to say that my life went uphill from there. I traveled across the galaxy, saved it from blowing up. Fought a giant alien, AS a giant alien. Stopped a race from destroying the universe. Blew up my watch. Got a new one. Dated a tennis player, and broke up with her. Fought a giant alien, as a giant alien AGAIN, this time in Tokyo. Killed an interdimensional demon along with my archnemesis. And made friends with a Slimebiote named Skurd. Now me and my friends are unlicensed heroes who defend the world from destruction. Mainly because it's the right thing to do, but partially to show Union Academy what kind of hero I am now. And I can't wait to see the look on their faces." They say, although you never really know how reliable 'they' are, that over five million people go missing every year and are never heard from again. Is that worldwide? America only? I never cared enough to pay attention, because as far as I was concerned, it had nothing to do with me. No one I know has ever disappeared, and the odds say that no one I ever know ever will. There's more people who live in New York City than that, and I've never even been to New York City, much less lived there. I don't know anyone who has. Besides. There's so many more pressing matters to think about. I never have the sort of free time I need to think that, really, I'm playing a lottery with crappy odds I didn't ask to play in. Every single person I know is another entry every year, and first prize is ending up among those people that lose someone who never reappears. Sooner or later, there's a lot of people who win the grand prize jackpot they didn't know they were competing for. At seventeen the state of Oregon doesn't think I'm ready for the cut-throat world of scratch tickets and guessing lottery numbers. Turns out there's some lotteries out there that you don't need to play to win. Some people see their numbers on the television, some people have to wrestle them back from enthusiastic shop owners, and then some people take the scenic route from the bus stop and run into a wall of light and weightlessness halfway home. I grew up in a little town in the Pacific Northwest that's never been in any movies, and I hit the jackpot at seventeen years old.

Some of you believe in fate and some of you don't. That's ok in our world. In the world that I created Fate has been acting strange and selfish for a long time. She was always fascinated with humans and the fact that they had soulmates because a lot of other races didn't. Ever since humans started traveling through space, that opened millions of new opportunities for Fate to make the human soulmates meet. However, because of her strange behavior, Fate made too many mistakes. After that, Fate made what she thought, was a good move. What she didn't count on was that the good move she made knew that you can cheat fate. One and his crew don't know how ironic it is that she chose them to make her good move. -------------------------------------- Notes: I didn't use any movies or series for inspiration, the story is my original work. This is just the result of my weird imagination and brain thinking about what that character would do and telling me what to write. I hope you like it :) It's just a story, like all of my other stores. It doesn't have a deeper spiritual, moral or ethical meaning.
