Agent Edward Townsend of MI6 is many things: young, ambitious, calculating, and yes, strikingly handsome. Sure, he's got a reputation of being condescending, but that's not taking him off the fast track to become a top clearance operative before he's thirty and be privy to Britain's most precious government secrets. Edward has a long list of achievements under his name, including thwarting missile-smuggling ex-KGB generals and taking three bullets to save the British Queen, so he (reasonably) thinks he's seen it all.

Until a woman named Catherine Goode walks into his life.

His brief- yet life-changing- affair with her sends him on a collision course with an international terrorist organization that has existed since the American Civil War, a group of talented young girls attending the world's premier boarding school for spies, and maybe even the love of his life.

This novella tells readers the backstory behind the most mysterious of characters from Ally Carter's Gallagher Girls series.

(Note: I am not Ally Carter. These characters and the general story line belong to her. Plus, this was written before her Plaid Collection epilogues came out, so the novella may not match up perfectly.)

**FAIR WARNING: YOU WILL HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, BUT IT IS THERE, AND WORTH THE READ. IF YOU ARE OVERLY SENSITIVE, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK* Logan Pierce and Noah Locke are sworn enemies. Both at the top of their class, holding themselves to the highest standards; both captains of their volleyball teams, Logan as the girls captain, Noah as the boys; and both constantly playing seemingly harmless pranks to get back at one another. Or, at least, they're usually harmless... If one thing is true, Noah Locke and Logan Pierce are not friends. But does that mean they could never be friends? Or transcend their title as enemies? Logan might take things too far sometimes, but there's a reason behind the angry front she puts on, and in order to get behind it, someone needs to show her that there's more to life than being the best at everything. Cue Noah Locke. When the two volleyball teams are sent away to a team bonding camp for a week over Fall break, Logan and Noah must learn to get along for the sake of their teams. Partnered up and made to do activities together and bond, the goal is for Noah and Logan to stop this ongoing feud. And when something happens at the bonding camp that brings Logan's vulnerable side up to bat, Noah is the one who has to bring her back. While Logan and Noah explore something other than hatred for one another, there are secrets and people who could be working in toll to bring them apart. But will they be able to transcend those factors and stop fighting for once? Or were they destined to be enemies forever? "Better Than You" challenges the idea that enemies have to stay enemies forever, and proves that if you don't run away from love, you may just find where you were meant to be.

Skye Clemons has a bit of a reputation. Unable to escape her past, she has one clear goal - to pass her language and literature course at college. If only it were that simple. Now having to share a class with wealthy students from Lakeside College, she must face her ultimate challenge - letting her guard down. They say that opposites attract, but Grayson Swain is proof that this myth doesn't always ring true. He is the most annoying human being Skye has ever encountered, especially since he insists on calling her the class viper at every opportunity. When they are paired up for a collaborative class project, they are expected to put their substantial differences aside and get to know each other, which will take a lot of work! Fights and conflict seem to follow Rory Keaton wherever he goes, and he is a ticking time bomb. He also knows way more about Skye's past than he should and makes it his mission to judge her. Forced to get a job to avoid being evicted from her family home, Skye finds herself working at Trinity Stables and doesn't expect to form an unlikely bond with a hot-tempered horse who seems to be facing his demons. Some of the biggest challenges are yet to come - with the mysterious financial arrangements Skye stumbles upon and the mystery surrounding the father she has never met. As secrets unveil themselves, Skye realises that maybe the past is best kept buried. (This book was previously known as Protection) Allison Reed has always been the apple of her family's eye. In all her years of life, she's always been trying to know what life is all about. However it doesn't help having older, twin brothers who make it their personal job description to keep her from heartbreak until she reaches the ripe old age of 25. Wesley Parker comes into the picture. A seemingly normal guy with ripped jeans and an overall badass aura, but a sweet guy beneath the facade. But Wesley isn't your ordinary teenager, no. He's fluent in many languages, is well trained in multiple forms of martial arts, has never achieved anything less than an "A" for any test or exam, is able to go through Navy Seal obstacle courses flawlessly within 6 minutes, and has the ability to shoot smiley faces on targets from 500 yards away. He's the top student of Holmes Academy, an elite but excellent school under the protection of the CIA. The school trains underprivileged or neglected teenagers and kids who can choose to continue serving the CIA, or take their knowledge elsewhere. He's the only person capable of protecting Allie when her brothers are called in by the police to take down one of New York's most notorious criminals, Garrett Baker, who is deluded into thinking that Allison Reed is his long lost daughter and is hell bent on bringing her home. And how else can he protect her but to move into her home? And can he keep it a secret that he's not who she thinks he is?
