This is a story about Nightcrawler's past, including how he met the Xmen. Kerri was just a normal teenager with maybe a little worse than normal home life, and an ok but dull school life. That is, until she one day develops an interesting problem. She gains mutant powers, and her appearance starts changing randomly with her emotions. Now she has to try and keep those under a tighter lock than before, because mutant hysteria has hit her town, and she went from an unknown quiet bookworm to the topic on everybody's tongue. Then it really hits the fan at home and she has to leave before it gets worse. Luckily, Professor Charles Xavier finds her and saves her from the streets before something unthinkable can happen to her. Unfortunately it took him a year to find her and she's withdrawn from the world, and isn't used to socializing with humans anymore. And then there's Kurt, code name Nightcrawler. He's a mutant too, and has been treated differently his whole life because of the way he looks. The best day of his life was coming to the institute and getting the hologram that hides the way he really looks so he can finally look like everyone else. But when the newest student comes to the school, he finds himself judging her by looks too. Until she pushes him into showing her his true appearance and marks his life as the first person to ever tell him that he looks better without the hologram. Then, as promised, she shows him what she really looks like and he falls for her. Too bad there's only two trimesters left of his senior year before he graduates. Will Kurt be able to pull Kerri out of her shell before he graduates and has to find what to do next with his life? And what about the pressures of high school and the anti mutant society that are always there at the edge of their life?

This book starts off after Nightcrawler joins the X-Men and the team is given detail from the professor that there is an overlooked project called "Point Opposite" made by the same scientists who made Wolverine the way he's now. When Jean, Cyclops, and Storm arrive at the destination they realize that Maxine's background may be even more difficult to understand than they thought.

Nelliea travels from town to town finding something in her life. Kurt goes through the days of being a P.I. not expecting anything new. Suddenly they find each other and their world changes forever. Can they survive it?

Sally Alieantha is not a normal human. She is what people call a mutant; her genes being more enhanced then others. She has had a hard past, and the only good is the X-men who have saved her from death. Yet the one thing she is afraid of, the one thing she can't fight, is now coming back on her. The past is coming, bringing the monster out in the Animal. Now she must come in terms with the nature that is in her, from figuring out if she is a human or if she is an animal at heart.
