"You spun around, letting your eyes wander around the room. Loud music roared through the speakers and a sparkling string of lights twinkled on the ceiling. As you turned to your right to look for JJ, you locked eyes with Reid. His hazel eyes stared longingly into yours from across the room. You quickly dropped your gaze to the floor, avoiding any type of smile or greeting. You could feel the heat of a blush rush into your cheeks. Shit. When you looked back up at Reid, trying to catch his gaze once more, you watched him furrow his brows and turn around with a confused expression painted across his face. You felt bad and wanted to follow after him, but your racing thoughts paralyzed you. You couldn't catch feelings. You couldn't risk it. You couldn't lose another person close to you, not after what had already happened the past year."
"The comets
Have such a space to cross,
Such coldness, forgetfulness.
So your gestures flake off --
Warm and human, then their pink light
Bleeding and peeling
Through the black amnesias of heaven." -Sylvia Plath
Running from a grim and heavy past, both the reader and Spencer travel through the present towards a longing future of love, safety, and healing. The reader and Spencer learn to appreciate both the dark and the light that comes with being human as they develop feelings for each other and try to make a relationship work.
But what happens when the past refuses to stay buried?
What happens when the darkness overpowers the light?

She's worked with two notorious killers for years, but now she's in an interrogation room while the team at the BAU try to grill information out of her. Where are they? Why did you do it? Why do you kill like that? Why do you spend so long with your victims and most importantly - why were you so easy to find?
Spencer's on the other side of the mirror, observing her body language. She doesn't flinch, her eyes don't twitch or move from the desk but she's trying to hide one thing - her index finger rapidly tapping against her thigh. It doesn't take a genius to see her brows furrow a fraction of an inch when she says one sentence. "They are my family."
She's a liar. A thief. A murderer. But shes innocent.
And they just gave her a job.
