"Lady, is your mind elsewhere?"

"Forgive me, Keith. I just hoped for someone to be present today." He chuckled as we kept dancing, his hand holding my waist tightly as the distance grew closer.

"Is the heir of the Greenfort family more interesting than the man you're dancing with, Lizzie?" His brown eyes targeted me with an emotion I couldn't decipher.

We both locked eyes and had a few laughs, but they faded away quickly when a pair arrived. The pair that I never knew I feared to face.

"Young Mr. Frinde and Mrs. Aven Greenfort have arrived!"

"Bastard," Keith whispered in anger.

Those were the last words I heard before the loud mutters from the other nobles. Who is she and why is he with my beloved?!
