"The dream...it was clearer than a memory. And I heard the sound of thundering hooves, splintering shields and ringing swords. And I placed my heir upon the Iron Throne, and all the dragons roared as one." ~ King Viserys Targaryen "If I'm to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all. But when I say 'I love you', it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. You're the one, Alicent. ~ Geralt Targaryen "Brother, if you're named heir and I your Princess Consort, your claim would not be so easily challenged. The Velaryons are of the sea. But you and I are made of fire We have always been meant to burn together." ~ Rheanyra Targaryen "Where is duty? Where is sacrifice? It's trampled under your pretty foot again." ~ Alicent Hightower "Think for yourself. It'll save you a lifetime of heartbreak." ~ Yennefer Martell "Dreams didn't make us kings. Dragons did." ~Daemon Targaryen The Dragon's Heart Is Mine tells the tale of two best friends torn apart by men in their lives. It also includes their political alliances and especially the civil war between the Greens and Blacks. The war between two siblings, torn between marriage and love, however, their history forms the core of House of The Dragon. Viserys' choice for Geralt to marry Alicent Hightower and Daemon's attraction to Rhaenyra instigated most of the events that shaped their lives forever. Every character's ideas of marital unions and love are vastly different from each other, giving rise to insightful and memorable impact, thereby causing a division of civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. Not later than when Prince Aemond lost his eye, King Viserys wished for the conflict between his oldest daughter Rhaenyra and his second wife Alicent to end. Betrothing Rhaenyra's only daughter Viserra to Alicent's oldest son Aegon seemed like the best option for him, since both parties had previously declined a marriage between Jacaerys and Helaena. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 must find her way in between the intrigues, schemes and plots of the greens while being married to a man that many despise because of his reputation, while she rather fears him because of it. Yet, things are not as they seem to be at first sight, and one must not forget that they are all children - innocent children. [cover by the lovely @Drwstarkey]
