We'd been waiting for the Sun Summoner our whole lives. We were told stories about that person that would destroy the swathe of blackness known as the Shadow Fold, the place called the Unsea, the place that divided all of Ravka. My twin brother, Aleksander Kirigan, known as General Kirigan to the Second Army of Grisha soldiers and the court of the Little Palace, as well as to all of Ravka, works tirelessly to maintain order in our corner of Ravka, lead the Second Grisha soldiers and find the Sun Summoner in order to destroy the Shadow Fold. Our father died when we were young, and our mother is well - cranky. Our mother, Baghra, lives in a little hut not too far from the Little Palace. She hates the door being left open to her hut because it steals the heat, and for some reason has a problem with my brother. She adores me, in her own special cranky way. I was born to be a princess, not a military leader like my brother. Marry well, do and say all the right things, I was told, and perhaps I could even rise to the throne of Ravka, perhaps alongside one of the King's sons as my husband. I had everything, but I didn't like my life. I wanted to be free, like my brother. The queen's attendant, Genya, called me a 'wild child.' She still does. I train regularly with the Grisha in the Second Army at the Little Palace, but I've rarely ever left the Little Palace. But when a girl named Alina Starkov arrived at the Little Palace, courtesy of my brother, everything began to change. Aleksander thought she was the Sun Summoner, the one to heal all of Ravka. And as time changed, a sinister plan began to take hold of the Little Palace, as well as all of the Grisha and the rest of the court. And Alina was getting caught in the middle of it. But so was I. I'm Adela Kirigan - but the legacy of my name, and what was taking hold, would soon become a great danger to all of Ravka.

After killing the stag and forcing the amplifier on Alina, the Darkling decides that letting Alina and Mal go might be a better investment. After all, the boy is only mortal, one day he will die and Alina will return to his waiting arms. "I'm not going to kill you, Mal. I don't need to. Time will do it for me" ________________________________ "All right." She did little to hide her shock. "What?" "You can go, Alina." She narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth but he cut her off before she could spew whatever distrustful comments she had planned. "You and the tracker can go and live out your merry little lives. Have your 50 years, maybe even 70 if you're lucky, and when your fantasy crumbles around you, you will see that only you and I remain. This fic will deal with heavy topics: war, violence, loss, grief, death, and manipulation will all be explored. There are mentions of SA and explicit dub-con scenes. The relationship between Alina and Aleksander is very much toxic throughout the story and it will for the most part remain toxic. Moreover, nothing in the story is meant to be taken at face value, rather, themes and actions were left morally grey, so to be explored and dissected by the reader. A year after Alina Starkov tears down the Shadow Fold, she is finally able to settle into her peaceful life. There is no more war with Ravka. The Darkling, once her enemy, is now a loyal, protective husband, and a father to their adoptive daughter, Amelia. But all things must end. The Sun Summoner learns that a time of peace can become a time of chaos and upheaval in the blink of an eye. As quickly as one war ends, another can emerge. Alina must protect her country as Queen while making sure that the Darkling doesn't revert to his old villainous self, or else all they have built will come crashing down. Behind him, a monster ten feet tall, made of shadow, forms in a menacing stance, ready to carry out his silent orders. I thought I had seen the last of his nichevo'ya a long time ago when we were on opposing sides of the war. I shake my head. "No. No, what are you doing? Wait!" I send the Cut barrelling at the monster. It dissociates into nothing only for another one to take its place. Again, I send the Cut through the abomination, but it was only a diversion. Another one forms behind me, capturing my arms to prevent me from summoning. It holds me above the ground. I kick and scream, but it covers my mouth with its long, slender arm, the other holding me securely to its chest. My breath is labored as I use all of my strength to fight it. It is futile. The Darkling approaches me, stroking his fingers across my cheek as a way to comfort me. It is hard, however, to comfort someone if you are the cause of the distress. What would have happened if the Sun Summoner surrendered? Alina Starkov struggles with her feelings towards Aleksander and protecting her country. She is forced into decisions that she did not want to make while at the Grand Palace. The Sun Summoner loses even more control over her life after her marriage to the Darkling. She must gain back control and find a way to save Aleksander's humanity; the lives of innumerous innocent people depend on it. This story is based on the Shadow and Bone trilogy combined with the Netflix show.
