Right after Dean proposed to Cassie, Cassie went back to her childhood home and grabbed everything she could find that was her mother's.
With the support of Dean, Cassie wanted to make her mother proud, so she went to college to become a CIA and FBI agent. John was against it but knew he couldn't force Cassie to do what he wanted, so he let her do it. After graduation, Cassie got offered a job at Quantico, Virginia. Working for the FBI in the Behavioral Analysis Unit would set anyone on their toes, but Cassie has seen her fair share of monsters.

Determined to keep her other life a secret, Cassie tries to hunt all the supernatural in the area to keep her coworkers and friends out of that life.

One case, however, combines everything Cassie worked hard to separate, causing her to confess everything. Everyone in the BAU is amazed and tells Cassie that they will help as best as they can, giving Cassie the name, "Roamer".
The directors of the CIA and FBI know what Cassie does and give her all the help she could ever ask for. Cassie has a family outside of hunting. A little boy that she loves as if he was her own and a support system that protects her as she protects them.

I know that Supernatural and CM started around the same time, but for this, it's different.

Lucielle Andrews thought for a good portion of her life, that she knew what her goals were. Graduate. Get married. Have kids. Be a better family than the one she grew up in. With her drug addict of a mother, and her sociopath of a father, her life was no where near easy. She wanted to be the mother her own never was, and marry a better man than her father was. That theory changed when she came home from school to tons of sirens, officers and medics. She was newly fourteen, and very confused as to why she wasn't permitted inside her own home. She never got to enter that house again. She was taken to the police station, and fell asleep in an officer's office chair that night. When she woke, she was told that her father was going away for forever, since he was guilty of six homicides, including that of her mother's. The FBI officers that had been at her house had told her this, and how they were gonna get her stuff and get her to her aunt and uncle, whom she never knew she even had. She was put on a flight to Virginia, and finished growing up there with her aunt and uncle. Once she graduated high school, she knew she wanted to go school for psychology, minoring in criminal justice. Her guardians thought the combination was odd, but she knew exactly what her plan was. Her plan was to catch people like her parents. And be the FBI agent to help out a child who was going through what she had. That's no childhood. Soon enough she'll be on her way to Quantico, but for now, an internship will suffice. -•- NOTE: This book takes place in 2008 around the fifth to sixth season of Criminal Minds. {Book Two} COMPLETED - SPOILERS PRIOR TO SEASON 12 It's been two and a half years since Melanie Hotchner last stepped foot inside the BAU in Quantico, Virginia. During that time almost everything has changed, including the new BAU in Albany, New York. "You have to heal, Reid." He nodded his head and smiled. "I have. In my own way. I'm with Dylan now." "I know that. But just because you've moved on and you're with someone else, doesn't mean you've forgotten or gotten over what you and Melanie had." They say time is a healer, but not everybody can be healed. The endless respect everyone once held for Melanie is now shrinking, running tension and emotions high. "Profilers. We're logical, observant, fast. We're not sneaky or suspicious or sly or liars, Spence. We shouldn't be doing this. This isn't who we are. And if you're even a shred of the man I fell in love with, you'll realise just how mad this is." But as usual, Melanie's past finds a way of catching up with her, and begs the question; has too much water gone under the bridge for her and Spencer? Old ghosts come back to haunt her and have her running back to what she's always known.
