Racetrack Higgins, a Manhattan Newsie. Spot Conlon's best friend and crush, not that they would admit that they have crushes on each other. No one knows about Racetrack's past, and not many people bothered to ask, until he started babying scars. He refused to tell them, but when Spot, then Race himself, gets kidnapped one day, how will they find and save Race and Spot? He'd be forced to tell them his past. Racetrack Higgins was a normal Manhattan Newsie- more or less. He was Gay, but so were all of his brothers. He was Jack's Second in Command and had a rough past. He was stubborn, has anxiety, and is a good bit chaotic. Spot Conlon was not a normal Newsie. He was the King of Brooklyn, the Borough feared by most. Except for Race. (And a few others.) Said Italian blonde boy was actually a half Brooklyn, half Manhattan Newsie, as he sold in Brooklyn. Sure, Spot scared him sometimes, but not a lot. They were very different. Spot had brown hair, Race had dirty blonde. Race had been to the Refuge, Spot hadn't. Spot had brown eyes, Race had bright blue eyes. Race was strong, but easily outnumbered, Spot was strong, but wasn't easily outnumbered. One think they both agreed was that they cared for their boys more than anything and would do anything to keep them safe. Oh, that and that the other was cute. Sling hides his smile with his cards in front of his face, stifling a laugh. "No." Race answers, his face reddening slightly as he passes out another card to each boy. Ace looks up at him. "BS." It's been over a year since the strike has settled and the newsies haven't had any problems with Pulitzer since. But that's not to say that they didn't all have problems outside of work. Jack and Katherine were unhappy together. They didn't feel the love towards each other that they used to feel. Yet they were too scared to say something to one another. Crutchie wanted for his long-time crush to love him back, although he knew that would never happen. Still, one could dream. Davey and Les's father had been severely injured by an incident at work. He wasn't so lucky this time around and passed away due to blood loss. This drove their mother into a state of insanity, forcing Davey and Les to pack up their things and leave. They now live on the streets with their fellow newsies, struggling to support themselves just like every other newsie. Their lives were still pretty crappy and hopeless, but hey, they were still alive and that was what mattered. Then, a new kid shows up at the gates of The World and sends their lives into chaos once more.

Kat Kelly: independent, sarcastic, and younger sister of Jack. NOT someone who needs "protection" by the reluctant King of Brooklyn himself, Spot Conlon. But when Spot and Kat start to catch feelings and word gets out about Kat being Jack's sister, the newsies find out that some people will do anything to stop the strike, including harming Kat. Based on the 1992 movie, but anyone can read!
