It's the late 1900s. Reports of crimes have been swirling around the famously large city of L'manburg, leaving detective Alex Quackity perplexed and infuriated as he cannot find the cause of this chaos. __________ This story is basically an au where Quackity is this detective(I love detective stories :D) from this large and 'advanced' city called L'manburg. Quackity's best friend is Wilbur Soot, a secretive man who seems far too kind and innocent to commit a crime.(This is my first ever fanfiction so its not as good.)

As a private investigator, Wilbur Soot has had a lot of potential clients walk into his office. Many walk away, as his prices are too high for them to afford. When a young boy walks into his office, he is intrigued. The boy was in a ratty white and red T-shirt and torn up pants, he couldn't be more than six. Reminded Wilbur a little too much of himself when he was younger. The boy places a few coins and some buttons in Wilbur's hand. His older brother had gone missing. Wilbur stared at the boy's sad-looking eyes. How could he say no? It wasn't too long ago when he was in the same situation. Wilbur gives the coins and buttons back to the child, along with a small wad of cash. He agrees to find his brother, letting the kid stay at his office while he begins the hunt, scouring the internet, looking for any signs of the boy's disappearance. The clues lead him to a reclusive casino owner with a "devil-may-care" attitude. But something is off. It's just too neat when all fingers point to him. However, Wilbur can't help but question his motives as he finds himself drawn to the casino owner in ways he's never felt before. Quackity hated Wilbur with his entire being, he just couldn't stand his cocky behavior and the way he acted around him. Wilbur on the other hand wanted to get to know the smaller boy better, which was difficult as he couldn't control his bloodlust and it was dangerous for other people to be around him. But when on one day, the brunette accidentally revealed what he really is, their relationship took a sudden turn. "Ah shit, I missed the real target." Wilbur works for an agency that kills people, particularly rich people. But while on a mission when he almost dies, he is saved by someone with a very accurate shot. He meets another assasin from a different agency, something he's never knew of before. Of course seeing the skill and attractiveness he can't really just let him go... Quackity works for a different agency that seeks to be better than all the rest, that means more missions and more training, most importantly more money. It takes a very long time to get up in the ranks and he has spent much time there. But when tasked to kill a particular dangerous assasin he realizes he might not be a threat at all, until he gets captured that is.

Mysterious disappearances and circumstances are starting to make more sense, and, unfortunately for Quackity, he now knows far too much to be left alone by a certain outcast vampire.
