Wei Wuxian was a mischievous person. Everyone knew it. Upon going into the Coud Recesses to attend the 3 month lecture, this was something Lan Zhan had learned well, especially since he himself was often the target. Still, Wei Wuxian was definitely talented, if a bit unorthodox. So, when Wei WuXian returns after ab absence of about a month, returning just in time to aid in the wipeout of the Wen Clan using some odd form of cultivation, Lan Zhan realizes something is wrong. The previously outgoing boy has turned inwards on himself. He no longer makes jokes, he smiles when anyone is looking, but the smile drops when nobody is paying attention. He laughs, but Lan Zhan knows they are faked. He flinches away from anyone, and Lan Zhan is sure that he could hear screaming at some point during the night. He is no longer creating mischief and breaking rules, and was often found alone, staring blankly into the distance. The only people who could touch him without him backing away was Wen Ning...and him. Lan Zhan realized this when he had grabbed Wei Wuxian to keep him from storming out of a room, and instead of fighting him off as he did with everyone else, he calmed. Unnerved by the drastic change in personality, and, though unwilling to admit it, worried for the slightly younger boy, Lan Zhan gets his father and brother to convince the Jiang clan to let them take Wei Wuxian back to the Cloud Recesses, under the pretence of having him attend more training, as an official Disciple in a few more months. The Jiang clan eagerly agreed, as such an opportunity was ra early given. Lan Zhan soon realizes, however, that Wei Wuxie went through far more than he was telling anyone, and that, just perhaps, Lan Zhan may be beginning to feel attracted to the boy. He wants to help him, and both boys find the road to love is not always straightforward as it seems.

After saving Wei Wuxian from NeverNight Lan Wangji take Wei Wuxian back to the burial mound. He set up a barrier so no one can get through. "Wei Ying...let's go back..." "Go...Back....where..." come a weak Wei Wuxian. "Go back to our 16 year old self....go back when we study in Cloud Recesse...." Lan Wangji held Wei z Wuxian close to him. "Lan...Zhan...." "Even if you die....I will go with you....I'm sorry Wei Ying....I wasn't there to protect you....I wasn't there to stand by your side....I'm sorry I doubted you." When Wei Ying removed his hand from Lan Zhan hand, he look up at Lan Zhan, he can see the hurt, the sadness and how devastated Lan Zhan is when he see the person he love the most is falling down to the abyss below him. When Wei Wuxian fall from the cliff Lan Wangji decided to follow him. He know that Jiang Cheng is gone, so he pull out his Bichen and jump on it. He ride Bichen very fast to catch up to Wei Wuxian, he use his fully speed and he finally caught Wei Wuxian in his arm. Instead of taken Wei Wuxian back to the burial mound, he take Wei Wuxian back to Cloud Recesse without anyone know about it. Lan Wangji move away from NeverNight very slowly without anyone know that he have Wei Wuxian with him. When he is out of NeverNight, he flew very fast out of there and toward Cllud Recesse. He take a short cut from the back of the mountain to enter into the cold cave instead of the front gate of Gusu. "I will save you and protect you, Wei Ying. This is a story that take place after Wei Ying and Lan Zhan got save from the slaughter Xuanwu cave. When Lan Zhan and Jiang Cheng went to go find Wei Ying, he end up freezing the two and then knocking the two unconscious. During the banquet Wei Ying decide to leave instead of going inside the banquet hall. When Wei Ying walk toward the door he see Lan Zhan walking in his direction. Lan Zhan leave the group to follow Wei Ying, "Wei Ying!" "Wei Ying please come back to Gu-" "Enough Lan Wangji!" It shock Lan Zhan to hear Wei Ying to call him by his courtesy name. "I'm sorry. Where are you going?" Lan Zhan asked. "I'm leaving, I'm not going back to the Jiang clan. I'm not staying here. If I do, they will start to make up bad story about me. Especially, the Jin clan." Wei Ying begin to search for Wen Chao, he kill any Wen disciple on his way to search for Wen Chao to get his revenge. Wei Ying become a mysterious mask man, he doesn't want anyone know that he is Wei Ying courtesy Wei Wuxian. He help the cultivator from the shadow, he help them win the war against Wen Rouhan. When Wei Ying let go of Lan Zhan hand, Lan Zhan know that he doesn't want to live in a world where there is no Wei Ying , the person who he consider his soulmate. So he decide to jump after Wei Ying. After the event from the Guanyin Temple everyone believe that it was Wei Wuxian who try to kill Lan Wangji. Some people in black enter into the temple they said that Yiling Laozu order them to kill everyone in the temple. Lan Wangji jump in front of Wei Wuxian and got himself stabbed by one of the black man. Wei Wuxian got taken back to Cloud Recesse, he was torture and got kick out from the cultivation world. The person who he cherish the most, love the most, promise him to stand by his side didn't believe in him, he betray Wei Wuxian like how everyone else betray him. 20 year later the whole cultivation world got attack by corpse and puppet from all directions.
