As the eldest son of the chieftain he was tasked with protecting the village when his father left to aid in the war. As an older brother, he has to take care of his younger siblings Sokka and Katara. After their mother was killed, too much changed. He didn't have time for fun and games with war on their borders. To keep his remaining family safe he had to close off his heart and train relentlessly for the battle he knew they'd face eventually. The Avatar wasn't coming back. Or at least, that's what Ayaan thought, until a bald kid with blue arrows showed up.

Avatar: the Last Airbender Fanfiction Zuko x OC Makki is the twin sister of Sokka and the older sister of Katara. She is one of the last Southern water benders, along with her sister. At the age of ten, she lost her mother in a Fire Nation raid, right at the South Pole; all she has left is her mother's necklace, which Katara wears around her neck. After that, her father left to fight in the Hundred Year War, along with all the other grown warriors, and Makki and her siblings were put under the care of their Gran Gran. She grew up practicing her bending and helping Katara with all the chores, while their brother practiced his fighting skills and tried teaching the younger boys of their village. Makki's siblings followed their destiny of helping Aang master all four elements while Makki was stuck on a path with the Fire Nation Prince Zuko and his uncle Iroh. After being betrayed by the prince, Makki joined her siblings on their journey of helping Aang. But soon enough, Zuko figures out that his destiny is to join with Aang's group and to teach him fire bending. In the beginning, Makki couldn't believe Zuko's change, but he promised himself that he would make it up to her and prove to her that he's truly changed and that he loves her. I do not own any of the artwork or story shown in this book (except for the story in Chapter Fourteen). I only own the original character Makki and her actions in the book.
