Maura feels like she lost her best friend and with Casey back in the picture, her hopes for Jane to love her back disappear. Not wanting to be in the way of her friend's happiness, the doctor gives her space while leaning on the Rizzoli's brothers (who still have a crush on her)

When Casey comes back to town, Jane feels extremely awkward around him and she isn't understanding why.
