This book has a bunch of poems that have bits and pieces of my life in them. I write whatever comes to mind, and it usually makes sense. But everything has a hidden meaning. Of course, some of it is random, but it all comes together (plus I like to have fun). Every time I write a new poem I put it in order with the other poems- I have my book written in a specific order with different topics clustered together. The beginning is more sad, written with poems about tragedy, lost love, and mental illness. Towards the middle there are some poems that focus more on make believe. Further into the book the topics lean mostly into feelings of romance and belonging. I hope you enjoy all that I have written in this book (or at least some of it!).

This is my challenge to myself to get better and more consistent at writing daily. Rules I will upload a part to a story every day. Some stories will be shorter than others and some may continue over multiple days, but I will upload everyday, no matter the quality. Consistency over perfection. Important Some might be good, some might be horrible. Good thing I'm doing this for me and not for you. I'd be grateful for any feedback though, I have a lot to learn.

All grandfathers are alike, each one tells you stories about wars or the good old days. But not my Grandfather. He was a storyteller, but his stories were always different. He would just come up with the stories, and they would be so enrapturing to me. It hooked me from the beginning until the moment I had to leave. But then one day, he told me a story that would change everything for me and my Father. This story called the Phoenix Girl. It's a story of a girl who goes through hardships and struggles in her everyday life. They punish her for things she has no control over, but then she faces it all. She is reborn from the ashes of the flames that had consumed her. She is stronger. But what if this isn't just some story that my grandpa came up with? What if something connected her to my family? What will happen now that the truth is out there? Why was this story so important? What will change? Who is this Phoenix Girl? I was staring into a face that I loved, tears streaming down my face, and in Katyia's eyes there was sorrow and pain too, she was feeling for me, matching my grief every step of the way. Mic had known exactly who he was. He knew that he liked to keep a low profile, be in control, sit on the sidelines and observe, comment, judge. He had felt, naturally, that he was better than most because, well, he just was. He was certainly not the sort to commit murder. That is until Phoenix and the Bag Man came along. Suddenly he's the most sought-after face in town but for all the wrong reasons and things begin to spin out of control, what with a newly acquired troubled teenager status, homelessness, a really annoying voice in his head, that girl he loves but keeps pissing off, a certain dish best served cold that needs to be delivered and oh, the small matter of being a murder suspect. It's complicated, but he's the good guy so it's sure to all come right in the end. Right?
