After failing his first mission as a squad leader, the mission being to rescue Sasuke Uchiha from the Sound Four, Shikamaru comes back to the village feeling completely defeated and useless. Shikamaru reluctantly accepted the offer, and showed up and his house, to discover Naruto, standing shirtless in the doorway. Shikamaru can hardly keep his eyes of of him, which draws Neji's attention. With Neji's help, Shikamaru discovers that he may have feelings for Naruto. Shikamaru has a secret: he's deathly afraid of the dark. What happens when his friends pull a prank, and he's shrouded in. his worst enemy? Will his secret be revealed? Who will come to his rescue? They are educated in everything that may relate to a potential customer that comes through the door. Hence Naruto and Shikamaru cross paths when the blonde was entertaining the other's friend for a bachelorette party. It was supposed to end that night but Shikamaru was bewitched by dark blue eyes that held understanding. So he caved and visited again. Falling into the arms of someone who finally understood.

Naruto was slowly dying. But not in the usual way. He had Hanahaki disease, because he was in love with one of his best friends. If only he could confess his feelings before the illness progressed too far. Shikamaru was slowly dying of the same illness, but was too lazy to confess to the object of his affection.
