Along her life she got herself into a pickle with Davy Jones and he nearly killed her..Tia Dorma nursed her back to health in exchange for her beating heart. Jessica didn't understand at the time, but Tia said she would only give the heart back once it heals and Jessica could "properly utilize it" whatever the hell that meant.. Until then Tia would out a spell on Jessica.
