Beside me, Rowan raised an eyebrow. "Nobody said you did."
"Well, it sure feels like the universe has it out for me," My voice shook with frustration. "Every plan I make - Boom! Gone. Just like that."
We stepped into a clearing, sunlight filtering through the trees. I paused, heart pounding. "I can't keep things that aren't my fault."
Rowan shrugged, hands in pockets. "Maybe stop trying to fix it, then."
I bit my lip, staring at the sky. "Maybe I should."
