Centuries ago, dragons lived. They wrought their havoc and their hellfire and burned every town they saw to the ground. Centuries ago, they were driven from their mountain havens, and murdered in the hundreds to near extinction. For a time, the mountains were safe. But now the dragons are coming back, and when they claim revenge on the towns, a maiden or two leaves with them. Yet though the girls are stolen, they never are to die.

In the continent of Ovolara where five dragon tribes live apart, the queen of the Sea Dragons, Queen Flood, receives a prophecy about five dragons that hint at her fall. So she decides to prevent it by killing the dragon that kickstarts the prophecy, a Black Dragon. And so, the story follows the young Black Dragon Abyss, and a human he met by chance, Hope. In their quest to fulfil the prophecy.
