Set during the time of school integration in the U.S. after abolishing the 'separate but equal' laws, this story is of two young girls who befriend one another despite the differing skin colors. This story holds a child's innocence to a society that tries to take that innocence away when teachers, family, and strangers overtly disapprove of the friendship between the two girls.
