Waking up that morning, Riki got out of her bed and walked over to the bathroom, though she felt somewhat dizzy, not exactly nauseous, but... disconnected. It seemed like time only passed as normal, though a blink brought her from home to school.
Considering both Izuku and Riki had gotten into UA, it was the first day of school, which was supposed to be the day of orientation. Sliding the door open, Bakugou was sitting in his seat obscurely. That was odd... Riki never remembered taking the entrance exam, which scared her.
"...ey, are you okay?" Whoever's voice that was, she was too dissociated to focus. Shaking her head to try focusing on the things in front of her. Looking over to the source, it was Deku, the same one who had the look of confusion on his face.
"Yeah, just have a headache," it was a simple lie, though it was odd... she knew everything, but didn't know how she got to school. Maybe there was something interfering with her quirk, and it pained her to say that she didn't know what it was. "Midoriya, I have a question: when did we take the entrance exam?"
"Two days ago, then we got the confirmation letter yesterday, and our first day was today... Are you sure you're okay?" This wasn't the first time she'd been missing time without knowing what was going on, and considering her quirk was absolute knowledge and senses, it was weird to not know what was going on.
"Mhmm, it's probably some sort of migraine, it'll pass," as easy as it was for her to know something about a specific subject was it to lie to everyone around her. "Anyways, we should probably get to our seats-" as she was about to walk in completely, there was a certain loud blonde that caught both of their attentions.
"Deku?! Know-it-All?! How the hell did you two get in here?" He was yelling, that wasn't something she liked to hear, regardless of how much she specified.
"Bakugou, your voice is being a bit too loud at the moment, I need you to quiet down. Also, don't ever call me that again, I'll jump-smack you from here. The teacher will be here any minute," going to a random seat, she wanted to try to figure out what was going on inside her head.
Without having to look over at the door, she knew the teacher had arrived, and honestly? It was in a weird way. Instead of walking into the classroom like a normal person, he was at the front door in a yellow sleeping bag on the ground. "8 seconds, it took 8 seconds for everyone to quiet down. That's unacceptable, now go put these uniforms on and head outside to the training area."
♡
Getting towards the training area, the thing that Aizawa was referring to was the Quirk Apprehension Test he was planning on having. Riki wasn't one to talk to others, not out of her being introverted, though that was a major factor, but also because she didn't want to deal with people.
"Korikawa, you're first," it was a ball throw, that much was clear when she saw him holding up a baseball. "Throw it as far as you can with your quirk." It seemed as though when he said that, time didn't pass at all, or so she thought.
However, she couldn't remember pitching the ball, but when she came back to full consciousness, Riki noticed the ball in her hand was gone and the teacher was holding up the recorder. As it read: 9003 meters, though she didn't remember having any sort of strong quirk. Knowledge and heightened senses could only go so far.
Stepping back into the class, it was clear some of the students were still in shock, saying: "You have such a great quirk!" or "that was awesome!" She didn't remember what she did, which was the one drawback of her quirk: knowledge couldn't be reflected on herself. The number of times she'd tried using a mirror to figure out what she wasn't remembering was astounding, and it was clear that nothing was going to change anytime soon.
As if nothing was overly wrong, she just proceeded to go through the rest of the activities as if nothing was wrong. Surely, she could remember to find a way to figure out what was happening to her.
♡
Coming back to the classroom, there were still other things she had to do at school. There was something else she wanted to worry about, which was talking to the homeroom teacher to get the full story of what happened.
Knocking on the door to the teacher's lounge, she knew that the person who was going to open the door was going to be Midnight. "Oh, Riki, did you need something?"
"Can I talk to Mister Aizawa alone, please?" Trying to sound as calm as possible, she knew that it was scaring her because she didn't remember things of normal days.
Looking at Aizawa for confirmation, he looked at her before getting out of his chair. From then, she moved out of the way of the door to let him come out of the room. "What is it?"
"What happened when I threw the ball earlier today? I remember taking the ball, then I remember walking away, and apparently I pitched it to get the score, but I don't remember actually throwing it. Did someone strange happen, did my face look a certain way?" The one thing Riki hated about her quirk was the drawback: the knowledge never worked on herself.
"You blanked out for a bit and your left eye wasn't brown, it was more of a yellowish gold color. Is that the only thing from today you don't remember?" Still being hunched over, it was clear that he was tired, which only made her not want to talk to him out of fear that she would be wasting his time.
"The entire Quirk Apprehension Test we took today was hazy, but then again there is the chance that it could've been because I didn't sleep well last night. You know what? It's okay, I'll see you tomorrow," she was a fast talker, which was probably a sign of something else, and though she didn't want to be the type of person who searched up one thing and expected it to be serious, she'd rather keep it to herself and figure it out another time.
"...Okay," narrowing his eyes out of confusion, she knew there was the chance of something else being there as a reason. For now, she'd rather just get home and sort it out from there.
♡
When she got home, which was a bit after Midoriya's arrival, she opened the door and noticed Inko and Izuku sitting on the couch. "Hey Riki," knowing she came back a little late was somewhat normal, though Inko wasn't going to question it for now.
"Hi, Inko," the "mother" title was never going to sit right with her, that was astoundingly clear. "How's everything going?" It was a great question to ask, regardless of her quirk always being on, having a conversation couldn't hurt.
"It's the same as before you two left for school. While we're on the subject, how did your first day go at UA?" She sounded cheerful, which was the dilemma of her answer. Riki didn't remember her day, which she was gonna plan to try something she hadn't done before.
"It went well, I think," the, "I think" was the one part that made both of them look at her with confusion. "I mean, I barely remember anything about today, I know there was a Quirk Apprehension Test our teacher made us take, but I don't remember taking it."
"Do you think it might be serious?" Having her memory gone wasn't normal, but she didn't know what it was. There could've been the other things of her quirk having more than one side effect, which seemed plausible.
"It might either be another drawback of my quirk or it's something else. I hate the fact I don't know what's going on, and usually, I do." Incessant rambling was something she and Izuku had in common, whether or not they wanted to admit it to themselves.
There was something she was going to try, and her only fear was that it wasn't what she was thinking it was. There was a chance that memory loss was connected to a bigger thing, and for now, she wanted to start with the basics. "Do you mind if I go to the store to buy some things? I need them for an experiment."
"Of course, but don't take too much time out there, it can be dangerous at nighttime," it was a general worry with Inko having a child that wasn't her own, she just wanted to make sure that what happened to her with her father wouldn't happen again.
"I won't be out too late, and if anyone tries anything, I'll be fine." With her having infinite knowledge, she knew about the different ways to potentially take someone down if need be.
Walking out of the living room, she went to her room and grabbed a jacket. From there, she grabbed some money and walked out of the apartment.
♡
When she arrived to the store, the few things she needed to grab was: a calendar planner, a whiteboard with multi-colored expo markers, post-it notes and pencils, pens, and 4 journals. There was one other thing she wanted to buy, which was a stretch to get in the first place: a DID journal.
Something about a gut feeling told her to get one, which she'd be more than willing to fill out if need be. Getting a larger whiteboard, specifically one that could be mounted onto a wall, she also got a 3-pack of erasers and a pack of a dozen of dry-erase expo markers.
Knowing that she was planning to figure out what was going on, it meant that she would have to do more digging than the information already provided to her. The only other thing was that she couldn't tell anyone else about it, not yet, at least. The normal journals she bought were going to be for figuring out what was happening to the time she was missing.
Once she bought everything she wanted to buy, she started to walk back to the apartment. Knowing there was a chance she could get to the bottom of everything, she had to start looking for a professional for an official diagnosis.
♡
When she got back home, Riki went to her room and set her things down, knowing she was going to use them later on. The rest of the day followed as normal: dinner before sleep.
Because she didn't talk much, time passed much quicker than expected, leaving the only major thing she had to do was start writing down things in hope that whatever was causing her memory loss could be controlled. Opening the pack of post-it notes first, she took out one of the newer pencils and wrote the following message: use the journal or the dry-erase board to talk.
There was a chance it could've been something as simple as psychogenic blackouts, which she could learn to adapt to, or it could've been something more serious. After she stuck the post-it note on the wall, she turned to open up the dry-erase board.
Grabbing the pack of expo markers, she opened it and put it at the top of the desk. Setting out a normal journal and the DID journal, which still didn't feel right for her to have, putting out. With the bigger board laying against the wall, she was probably going to put it up when she had enough time.
The next thing she did was have her phone on the desk, one that would help her tell time if need be. The only other thing she had to do was relax, which was going to be a bit difficult, but she needed to get to the bottom of this.
Resting her head against the desk, she wanted to figure out whether or not this could be something she could control or if it was something else. After all, the only thing she needed to do was figure out what was going on.
It seemed as though one moment, it was 8:30 PM, though, in the next moment, it was midnight. Checking her phone, her suspicions were right: time was passing where she was blacking out. Because of the lack of light shining in her room, she turned on her desk light, not caring to look behind her.
Taking a moment to look at the note, there was a dark-shaded arrow pointing to the desk. The first place she looked to was the normal journal, which had an arrow pointing to the DID journal. From there, she went off of the table of contents, flipping to page 19.
Reading the contents of the page, her eyes widened. Honestly, she didn't expect there to be a completely different set of information.
It proved one of her theories correct, which scared her.
