your p.o.v.

It was hard trying to run at full speed with a backpack on my back. Yet that was what I was trying to do. I wanted to catch him just in time. I glanced at my phone, looking at the layout of the gymnasium. I had to get to the entrance the players use if I want the chance to see him now rather than in another half hour before they finally went on the court. I sent a quick thanks to the other worldly powers that the weather was calmer today. While it was still cold, the air didn't feel sharp and harsh as I breathed in and out.

I heard the loud engine of a vehicle, making me turn my head to the noise. Fukurodani Academy was plastered on the side of the bus. I made it! I continued running, now following the bus.

I put my hands on my knees, catching my breath. The bus had stopped, yet no one was getting off. They must be getting one of those lectures/speeches coaches and captains give before games. Another bus pulled up behind Fukurodani's, players getting off immediately. Their volleyball uniforms were brightly colored. The sound of a bus door opening rang through my ears, grabbing my attention. The first to get off was Bokuto, followed by other third years. Konoha was the one to notice me hanging off to the side, 20 feet away. His mouth open and closed as if he was saying something and the players off of the bus waved my way.

I saw the shadow of someone scrambling to get off the bus. I started to take steps closer, removing the straps of my bag. Akaashi stepped off of the bus, handing his bag off to the closest person and running up to me. I took off my bag completely, dropping it and running as well. As soon as I was within arm's reach, Akaashi opened his arms and I jumped into them.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. His arms came around my waist, pulling me close.

"I missed you these past two weeks," I said into his neck.

"I've missed you, too, love. I'm glad you're here."

Last weekend Akaashi got really busy with volleyball to prepare for today's matches, so he couldn't visit me in Miyagi. And because he was going to be preoccupied, we decided it wouldn't be worth it for me to visit either. It sucked not being able to see him. We'd never missed a weekend until then.

His hands moved down to my butt, then quickly to the underside of my thighs, to hold me up. Whoops and whistles began to erupt from the team. Akaashi and I laughed before he let go of my legs and I dropped them so I stood. I kept my arms around his neck. We were face to face.

"Hi, baby," I whispered.

He kissed my lips swiftly. "I'll give you a real kiss when we don't have tens of people watching us."

I giggled and let my arms fall to my sides.

"Y/N!" a feminine voice called out.

"Kaori! Yukie!" I waved to the two managers.

"We haven't seen you outside of a screen in so long!" Kaori was the first to give me a hug, then Yukie.

"A screen?"

"We'll explain later," Yukie whispered.

Akaashi grabbed my bag from the floor and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Say your hellos, love. I have some things I need to explain to you before we go in."

I nodded and waved at the girls before walking towards all the boys. "Hi guys!"

Bokuto and Konoha attacked me with a hug, making an 'oof' leave my mouth.

"N/N!"

"Birthday Girl!"

"Konoha-san, I have a name," I groaned, patting their backs.

They pulled away from the embrace. The other players either gave me a quick side hug or just a simple wave.

"Yeah but only I call you Birthday Girl. That's gotta count for something, right?"

Akaashi and I shook our heads and the boy pouted and walked away.

"Akaashi, meet us in the locker room in 10 minutes. Make sure you explain everything to N/N and what I mentioned earlier."

"Yes, I know. I'll see you there." Bokuto grinned and walked off with the team inside. Once we were alone, Akaashi put a hand on my waist. "I believe I owe you a kiss."

I smiled wide. "I believe you do."

He leaned down and connected our lips. I missed this. I cupped his face and deepened the kiss slightly. We both hummed into the kiss before pulling away.

"I really missed that."

"So did I." I hugged his waist, putting my face to his chest. "Okay, what do you need to explain? I don't want to keep you for too long."

"Right." He pulled away. "First things first, your bag is staying on the bus. Like I mentioned before, we got permission for you to travel on the bus on our way back to school. Um, quick side note, Bokuto-san wanted to do a double date thing at a pizza place after. So if you're down, we'll leave in his car from school and then obviously he'll take us home."

"A double date?! How cute! With Laila, right?"

"Yes. I assume you like the idea?"

"I do. Continue."

"You have the option to either sit at the fan section or stand as a spectator on the sidelines. Keep in mind we do have two games. Unfortunately you can't be in our student section, but Kaori-san said she was willing to stay with you wherever you are."

"Got it."

He kissed my temple and turned to get on the bus. He came back out without my bag. "Let's head inside."

~

Kaori, Yukie and I were in fits of giggles and squeals, catching up on the last three months.

"You do not know how cute it is to see Akaashi gush over you!" Kaori said. Apparently after every weekend the girls ask what we did and Akaashi would show them the goofy and cute pictures we'd taken.

"And his lock screen is the most adorable photo of the two of you," Yuki chimed in.

His lock screen had been from our first date after we were officially together. We went to a park by my neighborhood and had a picnic. In the picture I'm squishing his face and placing a kiss on his cheek. It was a pretty cute photo. The girls continued to tell me how 'jealous' the other guys were of our relationship, how they teased Akaashi, and how they actually were really happy for him. We continued talking as people started to file in and crowds formed.

"Y/N!"

"Kuroo-san! Kenma!"

Nekoma's team walked onto the court. A couple of players waved my way. Kuroo and Kenma made their way to me.

"You made it." Kuroo smiled and put a hand on my shoulder. "Kaori-chan, Yukippe," he said, nodding at the others.

"I gotta get to the bench. See you guys after the game." Yukie gave us all a smile and walked to the opposite end of the court.

I smiled at Kuroo and Kenma. "It's nice to see you guys. You nervous for the game?"

Kuroo furrowed his eyebrows and smirked. "Of course I am. Look who we're up against."

"Kuro," Kenma said softly, tugging on Kuroo's hand and pointing.

Cheers erupted from around us. Fukurodani was stepping onto the court. Bokuto led the group, throwing his track jacket behind him dramatically. Some of the other boys walked out with their chests puffed out, some with smirks on their faces. Akaashi caught Bokuto's jacket, his expression blank as if he expected that to happen.

"What a dork."

"He sure knows how to work a crowd," Kuroo said. He gave Kaori and me a wave before he and Kenma walked off to join their team.

The teams did their warm ups for a bit, starting to break a sweat. They both looked pumped up and excited. A whistle sounded, signaling the end of warm ups. Both teams collected themselves and started huddling by their respective benches. Akaashi began to run over to me.

"What are you doing? Go join your team!"

"Just real quick." He cupped my cheek and kissed me, ending the kiss with a gentle bite to my bottom lip. "I love you," he whispered and ran back to everyone else.

~

"You guys were so cool today!" I cheered.

"We were, weren't we?" Bokuto said smugly from beside me.

Akaashi and I laughed. The games for the day were already over. Fukurodani was to be Tokyo's second representative at Nationals. We were now walking to the team bus since it was time for us to go. Well, they were walking. I was being given a piggyback ride by my amazing boyfriend.

"And you looked really hot today, baby," I whispered into Akaashi's ear. The hands holding me up from my thighs tensed. I giggled and wrapped my arms and legs around him tighter. "You did great today. I'm very proud of you," I said a little louder, kissing his neck.

Some of the guys awed from around us while the rest of them groaned at the praise I gave Akaashi.

"Jealousy is a disease, you know," Akaashi said to the guys. "Thank you, baby. That means a lot," he said in a softer tone.

"Hey, damn owls!" We all turned around to see Kuroo jogging up to us. He stood in front of Bokuto with a wide smile. "Congrats on being the second Tokyo representative."

"Congrats on being the sponsored rep," I said as Akaashi walked us up beside Bokuto.

"Tell Sawamura and the others to look forward to the Dumpster Showdown." Kuroo grinned and continued talking to us until we eventually parted ways.

"This is exciting. The guys are gonna freak. I can't believe we're all going to Nationals!"

~

I woke up as I felt the bus stop moving. I poked Akaashi's side gently. He stirred and wrapped his arm around me, pulling me in.

"N- No, baby, we're here." He groaned and let me go. "I know, I know."

"Gimme a kiss," he mumbled. He grabbed my face and put his lips to mine. "Mmm, that's better."

I shook my head, grabbing our bags and following him out of the bus. Everyone grouped around the bus, looking tired but happy. Their coach gave them a short speech before dismissing us. Another Fukurodani bus pulled up, students with banners and noise makers getting off.

"You guys go to the car, I'm going to wait for Laila to get off," Bokuto said while handing me the keys.

"Sweet. Uh, where's your car?"

"Follow me, love," Akaashi said, pulling my hand and leading me through the parking lot. When it came into view, I started the car and unlocked the doors.

"Are we riding in the back?"

"Yeah, let's give those two the front seat." I slid into the backseat and closed the door. Akaashi did the same and put a hand on my thigh. "I have a weekend's worth of kisses to make up for."

I laughed, leaning my head on his shoulder. "I really missed you last weekend."

He tilted my face up to his. "I'm so happy you're here." He leaned in slowly.

"No making out in my car!"

We both pulled away from the sudden noise.

"Jeez, Kou!" I said, putting a hand to my chest. "You'll give me heart palpitations!"

"Still, no making out in my car." Bokuto slid into the driver's seat. "N/N, meet Laila."

Laila turned around from the passenger's seat. "Hi, it's nice to meet you, Y/N."

"Hi! It's so nice to finally meet you."

"You're Akaashi-san's girlfriend, right?"

I grinned. "Fortunately for me, I am. But I want to know more about you!"

She smiled back at me and I noticed her braces. "Well um, I don't really know where to start. I'm 17, I have a twin pain-in-the-ass brother, I'm captain of the soccer team, I've had braces since my third year of middle school, and I'm really excited for tonight."

"So that makes Keiji the youngest," I teased, poking Akaashi's side.

"I guess so," she laughed.

"I think you two will get along great," Bokuto said happily from behind the wheel.

Laila looked back at me. "I think so, too."

~

We were all laughing and talking, the night beginning to wind down. We had spent about two hours at dinner. The boys paid for the meal, but Laila and I fought to try and cover the bill. Their gentleman pride wouldn't let us, though.

"Seriously! My body literally forgot how to hit a cross shot. It was weird." Bokuto laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.

"I guess that makes sense. I was just worried about how upset you looked," Laila said, put her hand over his.

A light pink tint spread across his cheeks. According to Akaashi, Bokuto was planning on asking her out tonight. They obviously liked each other. Akaashi and I passed small smiles between each other.

"I'm going to go wash my hands before we leave," I said, standing up from my seat.

"I'll do the same." Laila stood up and followed me to the restroom.

"So," I began, opening the door for her, "you and Kou. How's that going? You're into him, right?"

She blushed at the sudden question. "I am. I'd say it's going well. It was honestly unexpected since we're in different years and honestly, quite different. He just- he just has this charm. And he's so nice, it's insane." She grabbed paper towels for the both of us. "Hey, uh, Y/N?"

"Hm?"

"You and Kōtarō are close, if I'm not mistaken."

"I would say decently close. He doesn't really hold back with me or Keiji. Why do you ask?"

"Do you think it's too sudden to ask him if he wants to be official? We've only been talking for two weeks, so I feel like I should wait. But I really like him. And then there's the fact he's a third year and leaves soon. I just-"

"I think you should go for it," I said. I gave her a wide smile. "He really likes you."

She blushed again. "N-Noted."

We walked back out and Akaashi eyed me questioningly. I grinned back at him. I kissed his cheek before sitting down.

"What did you do?" he whispered into my ear.

"Let's just say at the end of night, they'll be boyfriend and girlfriend," I whispered back.

He hummed in acknowledgement and sat back, patting my thigh. We observed the other two giggling and talking, their cheeks flushed and eyes sparkling.

After a while we all left the place and Bokuto drove us all home. We made plans to see each other again at Bokuto's place tomorrow to just hang out. Apparently Laila only lived a couple streets down so he dropped me and Akaashi off first. My assumption was so they could have their alone time.

I grabbed my backpack and slid out of the car and Akaashi did the same. I walked over to the driver's seat and knocked on the window. Bokuto put down the window with a confused look on his face.

"Tonight was fun, you guys. We'll see you tomorrow." I waved at the two of them. "And you, tell us when you're home. We need an update," I said softly.

Bokuto glared at me playfully. "Yeah, yeah. Goodnight."

"Goodnight!"

I walked up to the front door, Akaashi right behind me. "Let's shower and cuddle up on the couch, I'm tired."

"Fine by me," I replied, stealing a kiss from him. "You deserve the rest."

~

His body hovered mine as we kissed, a hand on my waist and the other propping himself up. One of my hands was on the nape of his neck and the other against the chest. Our lips molded together comfortably.

Akaashi pulled away, the hand on my waist cupping my face. He kissed my nose and put his forehead to mine.

I let out a breathy laugh. "So much for being tired, hm?"

"I just missed your lips," he said, kissing me again softly. He plopped down beside me on the bed, pulling me into his side. "I love you."

"I love you, too." I kissed his neck and nuzzled into him. "You should sleep, though. Recuperate."

"Talk to me. I like hearing the sound of your voice. It'll help me sleep."

"Talk about what?"

"Anything."

I moved away and adjusted our positions so his face was in my neck. I ran my fingers through his dark hair. "You know, I've been thinking about what you said last time I came to visit," I said quietly. "I didn't really get a chance to tell you how I felt that weekend." I took a couple seconds to collect my thoughts.

"I've never been especially boy crazy. I was always pretty comfortable being single. Sure, there was the occasional crush, but it never went anywhere.

"I never told you, but I did have an almost. He was a year older. I thought I was absolutely in love. But he just wanted to be friends. I remember being upset, like really upset, but at the end of the day, he wasn't mine and I was okay.

"What I feel for you, that's real love. I'm completely yours, and I'd like to think you're completely mine.

"I find myself thinking what it would be like if you ever decided to end things. If you one day wake up and decide you don't want to be with me, I'll let you leave. But I know that's a pain that would take years to get over. I am so in love with you that if you thought being with me would make you unhappy, I would stop being with you. I am so in love with you that if I did lose you, I'd be losing a part of me. Maybe that's stupid of me to think. But I lived seventeen years without you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

I could feel his smile against my skin.

"I would never leave you," he whispered. "I don't think you know how happy it makes me to know you feel the same way."

"I think I have an idea," I whispered back. "I love you, Keiji. So much."

"I love you more, Y/N."

"Impossible."
