Elektra Black, El for short, was born on the 8th of August 1979 due to her father's most favourable activity, nine months prior. Her father was the ever so charming Sirius Black. Best friend and so-called secret keeper of the Potter family. Her mother was alive just long enough to name her Elektra after her grandmother, which left Sirius and the rest of The Marauders to look after her until the day Aurors would take Sirius to Azkaban over a crime he did or did not do.

Dark brown wavy hair, piercing brown eyes and an overly confident personality eluded from her, just like Sirius himself. She was his twin; that's what everyone had told her anyway. It most definitely was not a compliment in her eyes, especially when the same murderous man was crippling away in a cell for the past 12 years and his Godson, Harry Potter, was too awkward to keep up a conversation with her.

But she managed.

The night of James and Lily Potter's death, Sirius requested Harry to join their little family, yet Dumbledore would not allow it. Harry had to grow up in the Muggle world with his Aunt and Uncle, and when Sirius got taken away from his own child, Remus demanded he were to take baby Elektra after feeling somewhat guilty over Harry's situation.

Remus Lupin. Not old enough to be a father quite yet but wise enough to understand the responsibility it took. Remus was a distant man but kept her fed, well cared for and well-hidden until it was time for her to attend Hogwarts. He often shared with her his fondest memories of what it was like to be her dad's best friend but dismissed her when she sparked the curiosity of his life after Hogwarts. The parts of Sirius' life that went downhill were something Remus never liked talking about, and if she were lucky enough even to get a snippet of what he had to say after he'd drank too much fire whiskey, he'd always cut it short with a frog in his throat. Remus and her father were extremely close; that much was obvious. But to El, he was a wise man in his 30s who would often go away for days at a time and come back with no excuses. She learnt to live with it as that gave her more time to explore the nearby forest, meet up with friends at Hogsmeade or go to the joke shop. He definitely wasn't her dad; instead, a best friend, and that was more than enough for someone who had no one.

1977

"Good one, James." Shouted Sirius in his typical cocky temper. James Potter, the school's brilliant seeker, had greasy Severus Snape dangling from his legs in mid-air; his trousers were pulled down to his ankles, defying gravity with the use of magic.

"Let go of me, Potter." Snarled Snape, reaching for his wand. "Expelliarmous!" Sneered Sirius, both him and James giggling at the sight. Remus always found it somewhat amusing when they bullied Snape, as, after all, he wasn't a particularly pleasant person during class. But, being a prefect, Remus had to do the only reasonable thing.

"Okay, ladies, let's break it up, shall we? I don't want to get into even more trouble today at the hands of others." Remus pulled Snape down to the ground, jokingly pushing Sirius out of the way. "You ruin all the fun sometimes, Moony." Joked James, who was pulling on his brown leather satchel. "I'm going to get you all expelled. Do you hear me!" Screamed Severus, who was pulling up his trousers, hoping a certain Lily Evans wasn't nearby.

Present-Day

Remus stirred in his sleep before jolting upright at the sound of a lightning strike coming from the storm outside. Another memory... they were all so happy, apart from Severus, of course. What was the point in grading papers if you don't mark anything? He reflected tiredly, glancing at the beloved pocket watch that the uncommonly kind witch, Lily Potter, had given to him on his 16th birthday. It read 2:08 am. He brushed a few strands of mousey brown hair out of his scarred face and stepped over to his bag to pop the parchment rolls back into it.

As he was about to start packing up, he heard an urgent tapping at the nearby window. Was that rain?

Tap, tap, tap.

Searching around the dark and crowded Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom, he saw a drenched looking owl outside of the same window. Hurriedly, he put down his bag and quickly paced over, opening the window to let the poor bird in. The storm rattled the black sky as the rain fell hard on his face. Storms were never a good sign to Remus. There was something about them that always brought dark trouble wherever they went. It looked like Arthur Weasley's bird, Errol.

"Not the smartest bird, are you?" He said aloud, taking the owl inside to dry off. It shook its speckled brown feathers, spraying water everywhere. He took the letter out of its mouth and promptly tore the waxy red Ministry of Magic seal open but hesitated briefly. If letters were being sent this early, it must be urgent.

"Remus,

I'm terribly sorry to write to you so early in the morning. I hope Errol wasn't too much of a hassle. I have just heard some grave information whilst working late at the Ministry, and I believe that you have a right to know first before the papers break the news later on this morning. My dear friend, I hope that you are sitting down.

Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban.

Arthur Weasley."

Remus felt his whole world spinning. His legs began to shake, and his arms felt like they would drop off at any moment. Tears flooded his eyes at the thought of his old traitorous best friend coming back. This wasn't possible, he considered. After everything he's done to keep El safe. This was just a terrible dream. Merlin's beard, what will she think? Harry too! Their lives are in danger. How was this possible? No one has ever escaped Azkaban before!

Then it hit him, just like lightning outside hitting the rooftops of the ancient castle. Sirius Black is and will always be an Animagus.

"That sly bastard." Remus cursed angrily under his breath.
