Chapter Four: Cry?
Point of View: Felix
Felix shoved his laptop into his suitcase, along with the few clothing items he had managed to unpack. Though he should have felt angry, Felix only had the loss of a friend plaguing his mind rather than the sharp pain of anger.
Yes, Cry had wrongly accused him. Yes, Felix had done nothing wrong.
But Cry had honest intentions, and the passion in his voice was obvious - he cared for Felix. He cared so much that at the slightest idea Felix had done something unmentionable, Cry immediately affronted him and faced the matter instead of simply ignoring it.
Felix was lucky to have a friend like him.
But that was over now, and he had to get the hell out of there before he encountered Cry again.
Where am I going to go now?
Home.
Where Marzia is?
She didn't really do anything wrong... She just got overexcited at the wrong time. Maybe I was moving too fast. Maybe we shouldn't have broken it off.
What about... Cry?
It was never going to happen, and it certainly won't now - not with our friendship botched over a stupid miscommunication.
I guess you're right.
It was settled then. He would go back home, patch up his relationship with Marzia, and forget that this whole thing ever happened. He would forget that Cry ever happened.
Clicking off the light in his room, Felix towed the suitcase down the hall and to the front door. After hurriedly rummaging around to make sure everything was there, he opened the door...
Only to pause after hearing a moan drift from one of the rooms behind him.
That was odd.
"Cry?" Felix called out uncertainly. There was no response. What is going on? Is there something wrong with Cry?
"It's probably nothing," he muttered to himself, struggling to ignore the panic racing through his mind. "But maybe I should check on him, just in case."
Shutting the door, Felix turned down the hallway. Unfortunately, six doors lay before him and he had no idea which one Cry was in.
"Cry? Where are you? Is everything okay?" Again, silence. "Cry, you're starting to worry me..."
Another moan reached Felix's ears, seemingly coming from the first door on the right. His gut told him to open the door, but he stopped himself.
What if Cry was just going to the bathroom? Or even worse, taking a bath? It would be horrifying if Felix walked in on him like that.
But then again, there was a chance he could be hurt... And Felix didn't want to take that risk.
Reaching out a shaking hand, he turned the doorknob and pulled... The sight before him was so devastating that Felix's heart lurched.
In front of him was... A white door. Meaning it hadn't opened. Meaning it was locked.
(Trololololol)
Dammit, Cry, what've you done?
Swearing under his breath, Felix knocked loudly and pressed his ear to the door.
"Cry? Cry, why is the door locked? What are you doing in there? Cry, is everything okay?" Felix called out, his voice cracking in fear.
"I'm... Fine..." Cry breathed. Felix felt a wave of euphoria at hearing his voice.
"Oh, thank God - Cry, you worried me! I thought you were hurt... I thought you were dead..."
He could've been imagining it, but Felix thought he heard the whisper of a laugh through the thick wood of the door. "Now... Why would you... Think... That?" Cry asked.
"So... Is everything okay in there?" Felix's cheeks flushed bright red as he realized how that sounded.
"Just... Just let me..." Cry struggled to form the sentence, and it sounded like he was running out of breath. "Let... Me..." Several moments of heavy panting followed. Then it was silent once more.
"Cry? Let you what?" Felix's voice was spiked with newfound panic.
Finally, Cry breathed in deeply. "Let me... Leave... Let me leave you alone..."
Several moments of quiet ensued.
"Fuck. FUCK," Felix swore, finally realizing what was happening. "Cry, NO! CRY!" Banging on the door, Felix continued to call out his name, his voice wreaked with sobs. "Cry, I can't... You can't... CRY! GODDAMMIT!"
Looking around in a frenzy, Felix spotted a large fern in a clay pot.
That'll work.
Picking up the plant, he momentarily staggered under its weight before ripping out the fern and smashing the pot against the door. Soil and clay pieces flew everywhere. A large crack formed in the wood, but it didn't open.
On the other side of the hall was a marble end table, and resting atop it a steel statue. Felix threw the statue in the opposite direction, hearing a crash as it smashed against the wall, and picked up the table.
Summoning all of his strength, he sprinted at the door.
CRACK!
The door split in two, and Felix threw aside the end table, clearing away soil and bits of wood to be able to access the scene before him.
At first all he saw was red.
Then, a floating body came into view. The body was bobbing amongst a red liquid in the bathtub, its arms face-up, displaying rows upon rows of cuts and gashes, several leaking out into the tainted water.
Finally, Felix raised his eyes to the face. Half submerged, with a crooked porcelain mask barely revealing a closed eye, it was Cry.
Numbly reaching for his phone, Felix dialed 911.
"You have reached the police department, what is the situation?"
"My friend... I think he's dead..." Felix whispered.
"We'll be right over," assured the receptionist.
Beep.
His world blurred by tears, Felix threw his phone across the room. Then he opened his mouth and screamed.
Felix screamed, and screamed, and didn't stop until the police arrived and his screams were muted inside of the oxygen mask they placed around his head.
Then he entered a red truck on a stretcher... And the world...
Went...
Black.

"Felix? Felix, it's almost noon!"
Felix slowly opened his eyes to reveal a woman's face hanging over him. She had blonde hair, an electric grin, and blue eyes surrounded by smile wrinkles.
"Mo-o-om!" Felix groaned, rolling over.
"I guess I'll have to take drastic measures!"
Felix felt a sudden tug at his feet, and before he knew it he was being dragged onto the floor along with his blankets and pillow. Smothered in layers of fluff, Felix sneezed from all the dust.
Felix struggled to make his way through the downy fabrics encasing him, finally breaking the surface and breathing in deeply. Then he turned to his mother, frowning.
"You almost suffocated me!" he cried out.
Mrs. Kjellburg smiled. "Whatever you say, Felix. But I guess if you're so tired you won't have the energy to..."
"To what?" Felix asked, his curiosity piqued.
"To make Saturday pancakes with me. I guess I'll just have to throw together some boring old cereal..."
Felix's eyes lit up, then dimmed slightly. "Do we have blueberries and chocolate chips?" he questioned. His mother grinned.
"Maybe."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Felix cried, grabbing ahold of her arm and dragging her into the hallway. His mother's beautiful laugh filled the house.
"Oh Felix... Beep... Beep... Beep..."
"Huh?" Felix looked at her, confused. She remained frozen, the same sound coming from her every second.
"Beep... Beep..."
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
Felix's eyes opened, this time in reality. Another woman was staring at him, but this time a brunette in scrubs. Her eyes widened and she rushed out of the room.
"Dr. Gralle, Patient 06 is awake!" Felix heard distantly. Then the shuffle of feet, and he was faced with a happy-looking man in a white coat and wire-rim glasses.
"Felix, correct?" the man asked. Felix nodded, for the first time taking note of his surroundings. Bland white wallpaper, tiled flooring... He was in a hospital.
"Good. You were the one who called in the police because of a report referring to your friend, Ryan."
Ryan? Who is Ryan?
Then his brain cleared, and it dawned on him.
Oh, that must be Cry.
"Um, yeah. How's... Ryan... Doing, by the way?" The doctor's forehead creased.
"He's doing alright. It was obviously a suicide attempt, from the gashes on the arms and legs. Much longer in that tub and your friend wouldn't be alive right now."
Felix's mouth dropped open. So he was alive? He had been sure Cry was dead.
"I'm sorry you had to be hospitalized like this, but as soon as you sign some paperwork we'll let you go. We had to take some precautions just in case you had been involved. Ryan will stay here for the next few days as his wounds heal." Dr. Gralle explained.
"Okay," Felix said numbly. "When can I see him again?"
"How about..."
The doctor scanned his clipboard, making a quick side note to the nurse.
"Now?"
