I woke up with no one beside me. Maybe I woke up on time because Andy did not wake me up. I picked my phone from the nightstand to see that I had one message from Ryder but it was from last night.
Ryder: Good Night chubby cheeks:)
The phone might have been in silent mode. I quickly reply with a good morning GIF and walk into the washroom to lose myself into the hot shower. I get dressed and wear a plain black shirt with white jeans. I quickly got downstairs to find everyone already seated on the dining table.
"Good morning Aury!" Mom greeted me while serving pancakes to the other 2.
"Morning Lia!"
"Good morning Aury!" Dad and Andrew greeted me as soon as they became aware of my presence.
"Good morning to all! What's so chirpy about this morning?" I asked, taking my seat on the dining table and eating the pancake.
"Nothing! Just that you are 1 day closer to having your younger sibling," Dad chirps in.
"Nice pancakes Mom!" I said, with a mouth full of the same.
"You say that every time I make them! Think of something new Aury."
"I will," I replied, still my mouth full. Just then Dad got up and walked to the sink to wash his hands.
"See you later kids! Bye honey, take care and don't keep doing all the stuff. Take some-"
"I will. Now bye!" Mom replied, pushing him out the door.
"Bye, dad!" Andy and I chimed into their playful bickering together.
We quickly finished the pancakes and drove off to school. The ride was pretty much the same. Me looking through Pinterest, Andrew singing along with the radio, me chirping in sometimes. And singing like crazy.
"Lia you should inform mom and dad about nightmares and..."
"Don't." I cut him off before he could finish the sentence. "Like what else are they gonna do other than sending me to a therapist?"
"They are getting worse day by day, you know that," he said, giving me a side glare.
"No that's not true."
"Oh! Come on! You call waking in the middle of the night, with sweat on your face not bad," he said.
"I just want some space Andrew and you know very well how I feel about therapists," I replied.
"But-"
"No! I am not going to tell anyone and it's better if you don't tell anyone either. I hope you heard that very clearly," I snapped and shut the door with a thud.
My mind was spinning due to that conversation, so I directly went and settled in my first class which was AP Calculus.
At least I have a good timetable.
I kept reading my book, ignoring the texts from Andrew. Everyone started rushing into the class as soon as the bell rang. Ryder came and sat beside me to tease me and not let me focus on the session.
Not everyone has a brain that can process things without focusing on them, Mr. Smart.
"I heard that," Ryder whispered into my ear.
Oops! I spoke it out loud.
"Sorry!" I replied.
"You've gotta stop saying sorry so often. Only a few people deserve sorries. They are meant to heal a hurt person and I was not hurt by what you said. I was actually impressed that you think I am smart," he finished with his signature smirk.
That smirk!
"Fine! Now please let me focus," I said, looking towards the board.
Soon the bell rang for lunch after studying calculus and history, for what seemed like a lifetime. I was already feeling sleepy for the only sleep I got the night before was 3 hours. The flash of the necklace still kept my mind busy, as if solving some mystery. Who am I, Hercule Poirot? Nah. Stupid brain. It just keeps diverting my attention there. I was still playing with my lunch tossing it.
"From the last 5 minutes, you have been playing with food. What's up?" Syd broke out.
I looked at her.
Should I tell her about nightmares?
No, I don't think that's a good choice. But she is my best friend and she needs to know what I'm going through but won't she be worried about me? And what if she discloses to mom and dad. No! They're already very busy but......
"Do I look like Scarlett Johansson?" Again it was Syd breaking my daydreaming. She actually took out a mirror to see if anything on her face was keeping me to stare at her blankly.
"No, you don't."
"Finally! Someone's awake," she said, keeping the mirror back in and rolling her eyes.
"Don't roll your eyes at me!"
"What ya gonna do if I keep doing it?"
"Someone's pissed. Reason please."
Before she could reply, the silence was killed by Aarold's voice.
"Girls."
We both looked at him with a duh look.
"Fine. Who has bought a good lunch?"
He really checked our bags. So mature!
"Oh I see Aury, you haven't eaten anything. Still wondering about that little MOS with Ryder?" he asked, smirking.
"Excuse me! W-what do you mean by little MOS?" I asked with my cheeks heating.
"Oh em gee..... I need to hear all about it gal." Syd said loud enough to catch the attention of 3-4 tables surrounding us. I mentally smacked my head for having such an idiot as my best friend.
"Calm down! We were playing twister with his sister." I said
"But what I saw was you over Ryder in a cat pose. With lips almost an inch apart. It's okay, nothing to be embarrassed about. I feel good for my...."
Before I heard any other crap from his dirty mouth, I covered my ears with my hands and stuck out my tongue at Aarold then left the cafeteria as lunch was almost gonna end. I quickly settled in my next class which was luckily AP Chemistry. I would be able to take my mind off stuff and talk with Cole.
"Hey, Aurelia," someone shouted from behind, taking my attention.
"Cole!" I replied.
"It's like we haven't talked in ages. I always get off shifts before your shift starts. So what's going on. We still have about... 8 minutes left before the class becomes chaos," he said, taking his seat beside me. His knee slightly brushed mine which sent a cold shiver down my spine.
"Nothing. Just studies and stuff. What about you?"
"Pretty much the same. Although I have to complete this Math assignment I don't understand at all," he replied with a defeated look at the end.
"I could help you," I quickly offered. That way, I would get to spend more time with him and less time with my dreamy thoughts.
"Really? I mean it's completely okay if you don't want to come. I will complete it on my own," he instantly said.
"Are you saying you don't want to be around me?" I asked with one raised eyebrow.
"No, I actually want you around," he said softly which made my expression change to an amused one.
"Forget I said that," he quickly added, his cheeks tingeing a bright color of pink which was evident due to the less melanin present in his skin.
My heart fluttered seeing him blush over me or what I thought was me.
"No, it's fine. I'd love to be around you," I replied with a laugh at how embarrassed he was.
"We can meet at the park at 4 tomorrow cause I don't have work tomorrow and your shift starts at 5:30 if I am right," he said.
"So it's a study date huh?"
"Yep." He laughed it off.
I think my heart just skipped a beat seeing him laugh. My cheeks started to heat up at the thought of tomorrow's date. The class went on with him flirting with me at small intervals and me blushing every time he flirted.
"See you tomorrow!"
"Looking forward to seeing you too," he replied, waving at me and sending butterflies in my stomach.
The day went on like that and thankfully I didn't have any classes with any of the guys although I wouldn't mind having a class with Andy, Zach, or Syd. I just didn't want them asking me about why I was distracted and stuff. Today Zach was going to come over, so staying away would be inevitable. I walked into the parking lot to see Zach talking to some brunette. He was into her. Anyone could have seen that. I walked a little nearer to see her face. I stopped dead in my tracks. My face masked a horrified look.
Is that?
Nooooooooo...
It can't be.
