When Lexa didn’t join them for lunch, Clarke decided to go look for her. She saw Anya at a table with some other seniors and decided to ask her if she had seen her cousin. “Have you seen Lexa?” Clarke asked, ignoring the gazes of the seniors that were all looking at her with a questionable gaze of what she was doing here. “No? Why?” Anya asked confused while she looked behind Clarke to check their table and see Lexa wasn’t sitting around it. “Because normally she sits with us for lunch but I haven’t even seen her here and it’s been 30 minutes already.” Clarke said. “I’ll go look for her. I think I might know where she is.” Anya said and Clarke rather had to go for herself but she just nodded let Anya search instead. If there was really something, Lexa might talk to Anya first instead of her. Just when Clarke was about to sit down again at her table, a girl stood in front of her and held her back. “You’re Clarke right?” The blonde girl said and Clarke was confused what was going on. She hadn’t seen the girl this much. She only knew she was a senior and stood around Finn sometimes. Before Clarke could even answer, the girl pointed at her neck. ”I hope for you that’s not Finn’s.” Clarke automatically covered the hickey with her hand. She had tried to cover the hickey up as much as she could this morning although she didn’t have much time but apparently some of the makeup must have come off and revealed it again. “Who are you?” Clarke asked, not wanting to answer her question. “You don’t know me?” The girl asked, clearly surprised by that. “Should I?” Clarke answered and the girl chuckled. “I’m Josephine Lightbourne. I thought you would know me not only because I throw the best parties but I mean you’re known for stalking Finn and I hang out with him a lot so I thought you would have wanted to know who he hung out with.”
“I mean I’ve seen you around but I’m not some kind of freak that searches everyone up. Also I don’t stalk Finn. I know him.” Clarke said and Josephine laughed slightly. “Oh poor thing.” She said and Clarke looked confused at her. “You really think you know him? Because if you do that’s great but I think you don’t, looking at your neck. I don’t want to cause any trouble because it’s not really my place to tell but we girls need to stick up for each other you know?”
“What are you talking about?” Clarke asked, getting impatient of this mystery. “I’m sorry. I really thought you knew or would have figured it out who Finn really is. I mean I’ve seen you hanging around with your group. Your friend Raven is pretty bright so like…”
“Can you come to the point please?” Clarke cut her off. “This is awkward.” Josephine said while playing with her hair. “Finn made a bet with the whole senior year that he could sleep with you.” Josephine said and Clarke stopped breathing. “You’re lying.” Clarke said while tears filled her eyes. “I wish I was.” Josephine said while touching Clarke’s arm but Clarke pushed it off. Clarke didn’t want to believe it but when she saw Finn looking at her from a distance, his gaze switching from Josephine’s to hers and his expression gave her the answer. She had no other option to believe it. Clarke started to walk away, tears running down her face. She wished she could hold them back until she would be alone and not in the lunch room filled with people but she simply couldn’t. Finn ran after her and had catched up with her the moment she walked over the parking lot. “Clarke wait I can explain.” He said while grabbing her arm so she would face him. “Is it true?” Clarke asked in a breath. “It’s not what it looks like.” He said and Clarke laughed while crying. “That’s not what I asked.”
“I don’t know what she told you.”
“I think you know very good what she told me or you wouldn’t be standing here telling me it’s not what it looks like.” Clarke said and Finn clenched his jaw. “Did you or did you not make a bet about sleeping with me?” Clarke asked and Finn looked down at the ground. “Did you?” Clarke asked again when he didn’t answer. “I did but I didn’t sleep with you because of that.” Finn said and Clarke forgot how to breathe suddenly. “Oh God. I’m going to be sick.” She said and turned away of him, holding her throat because she had the feeling someone was choking her. “Clarke please listen to me. Making that bet was the most stupid thing I could do. But what happened yesterday was one of the best things that happened to me. I made the bet because I needed money. My parents don’t trust me anymore after the cops caught me with it for the first time. They don’t give me money anymore and I needed it. But yesterday, I never thought of the bet yesterday. Please you have to believe me.” He begged. “I gave you my heart. I gave you my virginity. I was breaking down over my dad’s death and the little piece of happiness I had, you just threw it away like it was nothing.” Clarke said while she looked with disgust at him. “I never meant for this to happen. The bet was made before he died. And I started to care about you. I tried to help you.”
“Stay away from me.” Clarke sobbed and when Finn tried to get closer again she held her hand up. “Stay away from me!” She cried out and Finn didn’t move anymore. “What’s happening?” Bellamy asked followed by Octavia, Raven, Murphy and Lincoln. Raven and Octavia immediately catched Clarke who looked like she was going to fall on the ground in tears. “What did you do?” Bellamy asked while clenching his fist and getting closer to Finn. “This is a misunderstanding.” Finn said while he raised his hands in the air. “Please believe what I said, Clarke.” He said before walking away. “What happened?” Raven asked while brushing Clarke’s hair out of her face and shushing her.
Meanwhile Anya had found Lexa in the library. “What’s up, lil one?” She said as she sat down next to her. Lexa looked up from her book and rolled her eyes at the nickname before looking down again. “Why weren’t you at lunch?”
“I wasn’t hungry?” Lexa said monotonous. “Are you alright? You know you can tell me everything right? We’re family.” Anya said while she came a bit closer to Lexa and the brunette looked in front of her, thinking about it. “How did you know you were gay?” Lexa asked and Anya’s eyes widened of surprise. “I’m sorry. I should have never asked.” Lexa said and she started to grab her stuff but Anya held her back. “Hey no. I just didn’t see the question coming.” She said and it seemed to calm Lexa because she let go of her things. “I found out because whenever one of my friends would talk about boys I just didn’t think the same about them. Or I never visualised myself with one. And then I fell in love with a girl.” Anya said and now it was Lexa’s turn for her eyes to widen of surprise. “You had a girlfriend?”
“No. I mean we were secretly kissing and a bit touching but it never escalated because her sister caught us and snitched to her parents. And then she never talked to me again. She was some years older so she’s not on this school anymore.”
“I’m so sorry about that An.”
“It’s okay. Why did you ask though?” Anya asked and Lexa looked away again. “I just wanted to know since I live with two bisexuals now. And I thought it couldn’t to get more informed about them.” Lexa said and Anya laughed. “This is the worst excuse you could find. Come on, Lex. I know you. I’ve never heard or seen you look at a boy like a straight girl would or how you look at Clarke.” Anya carefully said and Lexa’s eyes widened. She opened and closed her mouth, not knowing what to say. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Lexa said with rosy cheeks and Anya had to chuckle again. “This is nothing to be embarrassed about.”
“I’m not embarrassed.” Lexa said with a sigh and Anya raised an eyebrow at her. “I’m scared.” Lexa confessed. “Of what?”
“My dad.” Lexa said softly and Anya looked confused at her cousin. “Why?”
“When Auntie told us about you being gay, he said some things to me. Like you were a shame to the family and he was disgusted you even had our last name. That your parents didn’t raise well enough and that he would never let that happen if you were his daughter.” Lexa said and Anya was speechless. “Wow.”
“I know.” Lexa said while fidgeting with her fingers. “Your dad isn’t here now, Lex. If you’re gay, you’re gay. It’s not something you can stop or prevent. Don’t let him stop you from finding love.” Anya said and Lexa nodded and Anya pulled her into a hug.
